TSL has the problem that many of the new 'mini-lands' have (including Potter and Rat and maybe all the portal lands of EU), which is this:

You create a narrow 'alley' for guests to get to popular rides that have a capacity of more than 2,000 people per hour. So, you have more than 2,000 people per hour constantly going in and out of that narrow mini-land.

Potter lands, Rat, and TSL always feel too crowded to me because of this.

The narrowness of the lands come about from lack of space, OR, to avoid sight-line issues. I'd gladly exchange a bad sight-line for the ability to be comfortable in one of these new mini-lands and be able to hang out in them.
It also drives people into shops and dining venues and creates the illusion of popularity through perceived crowding.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
IMHO the problem is Waldo. He's annoying (not in an endearing way), looks clunky and dated and is the main "hook" of the story. the peripheral activities are all still awesome and hold up including Sweetums, Bean, Sam Eagle, the cannon, etc. Personally, I'd say if there were a way to modify the show to get rid of Waldo and have some other element then it could definitely be improved and be more timeless. Unfortunately, I don't think that is realistic regardless (ignoring it is closing anyway) but the presence of Waldo is definitely what makes the attraction seem old and more in need of replacement (unless other stuff like ITTBAB or Philharmagic). YMMV.
A-men!

After seeing the new Villains show, does anyone still believe modern Disney is capable of creating a show that is remotely comparable in quality to replace Muppets? Does anyone still believe they intend to try?
I think you can only draw that comparison if the Little Mermaid show opening next week isn't good.
On a side note, the past few years have seen positive (for the majority) shows like Country Bear Musical Jamboree, Moana on the Disney Treasure, and Together: A Pixar Celebration at Disneyland Paris Modern Disney is perfectly capable of making good shows and hopefully the Monsters show replacing Muppets is of similar quality

We know what The Little Mermaid is. It was a weak show 32 years ago when it opened. Bringing it back is essentially self-satire regarding the current creative level of WDW.

Only one of the shows you listed is in America, Bears, and it’s representative of the quality of modern WDW shows. It removes all the character and humor from a show more talented creators designed and replaces it with IP.

All the shows I listed were developed solely by Imagineering without any outside funding like the Asia parks, that's why I listed them as examples 🙂 and until we see the Little Mermaid show in full, we cannot judge. But if you want to judge early, at least look at the positive response it seems to be getting on the Mermaid thread from just the teaser they've released and images 😀

According to Casper, everything added to the parks since 1995:

While I am sure that poster does have positive feelings about the parks, they tend not to show them in their posts. They are more of a doom and gloomer, which is sad, because their posts are always so articulate and beautifully-written.

But Mermaid opened in ‘93! The fact is, however, that Mermaid was severely lackluster even when WDW’s batting average was incredible.

Still, your point stands. Well, except that I love MMRR. Oh, and I think AK is the resort’s best themed park. And I’m one of the few who vociferously defended Dinoland and thinks the Mermaid ride gets too much hate. Oh, and Rat is underrated. And the Skyliner is a huge win. And Rise is very good but not great. Besides that though…

I’ll praise Disney when they do something well. I’m not a “brand loyalist,” however, and I’m not going to look at burning cesspools like Villains and Tiana and pretend they don’t hurt the park experience or heap praise on mediocrities like Guardians or Tron.

What I REALLY won’t do is refuse to think critically about how the parks are run and ignore patterns and systemic failures. I won’t pretend profound missteps that are clearly the result of deeply ingrained thought processes or fundamental corporate structuring are isolated incidents. Frankly, doing so is willful ignorance, and it’s utterly toxic, whether the subject is silly theme parks or something else.

You know you remind me of a certain YouTuber. I don’t know if you’ve heard of him but his channel name is Poseidon entertainment. He has a very similar attitude towards the parks and is also very refined in his craft.

So, the WDW map has been updated to include the new shows at HS (Mermaid and Villains) Over in the Muppet Courtyard section, neither Muppet Vision, PizzeRizzo or Ice Cold Hydraulics have their names appearing ready for the map change in June. I'm not sure if Ice Cold Hydraulics was listed before but I've checked other snack stands in the park like Epic Eats and Anaheim Produce and they have their names appearing. Does this mean Ice Cold Hydraulics might be leaving?

I have love and hate relationship with their posting style.

They remind of several people on here and other social media platforms that cover the Disney parks.

I wouldn't read too much into it ... I did go over and the drink stand by RnRC doesn't show it's name either but both do have the little icon appear when you change to Dining

Comparing old maps to the current ones is like comparing night and day. They used to have so much random stuff on them that otherwise people might not even remember. My point is that this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s leaving.
