It's a fun show but it definitely feels OLD when you're in there. If it wasn't for nostalgia or the historical nature of the show because of the loss of Jim Henson I really don't understand the objection to something new.

MuppetVision is over 30 years old and it does feel its age.
But this is Disney we’re talking about. Their whole brand is based on Nostalgia.

Carousel of Progress feels old. Peter Pan’s Flight feels old. It’s a Small World feels old. Etc.

I think there should be room in these parks for some attractions that feel old. That’s a feature, not a bug, when you’ve been in the them park business for 70 years.

Would a new film have made it feel modern, or do the Muppets themselves feel "old"? I don't think the slapstick, the jokes, the situation etc feel old at all. Even 3D, that's still being used in new attractions. But the film quality does date. Similarly with Reflections of China, it almost looks sepia! But that doesn't mean it should be cancelled.

I don't think that show in particular has much of an attachment (the in park play, not the movie) but I imagine if it was being shut down and replaced, those that did feel that way wouldn't be thrilled by it.

I love that we still have attractions that were around when I was a kid. Nostalgia really is the Disney brand... That said, there is nothing wrong with updating and plussing some of these attractions...as long as it is done in the right way that respects the original... At this point, Carousel Of Progress should either go all the way back to the World's Fair version (since they are using the original theme song) and end with the mid century modern home of the future set as the finale....or they should restore the WDW Original Carousel of Progress song and go back to the 1975 finale script and set. Either would feel more authentic than the finale scene currently being used....Then they could use some of the old Galaxy Theater land and create a proper pre-show prologue about the context of the attraction...

Passionate doesn’t necessarily mean they have the commensurate and required amount of talent (or a good enough budget). Prepare to be disappointed when we just get MILF.

I have a bigger concern about that with the ToL show. ITTBAB was IMHO the best 4D show that Disney has ever done and Zootopia seems particularly forced into that space and a poor subject for a successful engaging show. I would be surprised if the show is even mediocre.

While I appreciate MV3D, I actually think Monsters Inc provides a good foundation for an entertaining attraction. While I don’t think it will surpass or even match MV3D, I do expect it to be a solid addition.

Again, the objections are not to something new. In fact, I would be willing to bet very few people would have a problem with something new being ADDED. Instead, they are replacing something that DOES have a good amount of nostalgia attached to it and DOES have historical significance.

My personal opinion of course, but Peter Pan should be updated because I think it's the most overrated attraction in the park.

CoP feels old and that would be my only hypocritical opinion that it shouldn't be touched. However, I wouldn't be upset if it were moved to EPCOT or something like that (assuming that's even possible).

Small World? Should be gutted based on what you get for such a large show building. Move it to EPCOT too. I would probably be upset if they touched the one in DisneyLand.

Thank you. I’ve been dealing with this kind of behavior from people in the parks for half the time I’ve been going and it keeps getting worse over time.

Imagination could become an Imagineering Pavilion....with a focus on Walt Disney's work for the World's Fair and how that changed the amusement entertainment business... Move both Small World and COP there....restored back to their World's fair era look.... and a fantastic new interactive Walt Disney museum (moving over everything from One Man's Dream.... Restore Imagination attraction back to it's original...add a few very imaginative flat rides featuring Figment outdoors in an area featuring the entrance and full outdoor facade of Small World and Carousel of Progress....It could be it's own Miniland "World Imagination"....then move the Walt statue over there admiring things he actually did create....

Rat is cute, Resistance is very good when it should have been great, and MMRR is genuinely great. Other than that, it’s a litany of lackluster misses. Disney hasn’t demonstrated that they can build an attraction as complete and clever as muppets since… Tower of Terror?

The Muppets were supposed to feel old when they were new. They’re a vaudeville troupe! That’s the charm.

The attraction itself, with its mix of AAs, projections, and effects, feels “newer” then Philharmagic or any of the other shows built since.

Which don't mistake me - MV3D is still quite well rated and still holds up. I still would have rather a Muppets Great Movie dark ride annex, if it were up to me.

At the risk of exposing my elitism (what a surprise!) guests are dumb. If you only build what guests think they want, you’ll ruin the parks - and guests will notice, although most won’t be able to articulate why they are less satisfied. Disneys restaurant menus are a great example of the destructive power of “catering to guests.” If Walt was preoccupied with giving consumers what they thought they wanted, he would never have made Snow White or Fantasia or built Disneyland.

I mean, since 2017 WDW has gotten Pandora, RoTR, MMRR, Cosmic Rewind, Tron, and Rat. Your mileage may vary with these, but I think it’s a pretty stellar lineup.

I honestly think we need to have some optimism with changes to the parks, or we risk getting burnt out of this hobby we enjoy. I’m really upset that Muppets is closing, it’s my favorite attraction at WDW, but I’m not gonna let that taint my love of the rest of these parks. In the end of the day, it’s still a theme park. It’s a place where we go to forget about our troubles for a few days. If it stops being that, then maybe it’s time to find a new vacation spot.
