MK New Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

I'm excited that this lounge will flesh out Caribbean Plaza a bit and add some much needed life to the area. It's is one of the most beautiful and best themed areas on property, with its nooks and crannies and (former) fountains, but has been terribly underutilized for decades. This lounge basically replaces the second "attraction" of the area, the long-closed arcade, so if it increases foot traffic here then that's a good thing for the park overall.

I'm glad the area is getting some love, though I think I would've preferred a redone quick service. Tortuga is still mostly shuttered right?

It would be nice if this lounge was like the new EPCOT lounge and was 21+... an adult oasis. Yeah yeah, I know kids blah blah....but I think it is OK for the Theme parks to have some specific adult venues... There is plenty in the Magic Kingdom that is aimed towards kids....ONE adult spot would be amazing...

I can sympathize with this but this isn’t the spot for it. I think it’s a bad idea to make cool well themed spaces and then separate them by age. I’m looking at you Disney cruise line.

I din't think there is anything wrong with that... If they build things that are specifically meant for the youngest guests, why not something for the adults as well... And why not theme them well....Trader Sam's should show them that the demand to have things like this for adults is there... and so what? Boo-hoo kids can't get into one thing at the Magic Kingdom?
Nothing wrong with addressing both demographics....It would definitely have a better ROI than the Casey JR Splash pad ...and that is something that is basically just for kids...

lol i wish they had 1 day a month where the entire park was 21+. Say the last day of the month or something. Never would happen of course

Maybe an after hours event? Can't see a regular park day being restricted

Maybe ven do like 2 of the Jollywood nights are 21+ only or something

Yes but adults can still walk though those spaces and check out the cool theming. If we ban children from a space such as this the reverse would not be true.

And MK is the park most visited by little kids. We’re talking about a park where two scary rides shut down because of parent complaints (Alien & Stitch). Dangle a cool pirate themed eatery in front of kids and then ban them, when their stressed and overwhelmed parents just emptied their bank accounts to be there? The therapy cost alone for the CMs on the frontline of that… Katiebug would not be having any of that. 😂

I like the idea of a special after hours party like the Pirates and Princess parties...but just an Adult Swim evening at the Magic Kingdom....

If they would just stop the tiered pricing based on age and charge everyone from 1 month old to 100 years old the same price, then throw on a ticket requirement for every stroller and a lot of the problems would be eliminated. Anything to cut down on the toddlers and strollers would open a world of space in the parks.

This is honestly good old fashioned Disney type stuff... I mean if they did more things that respect the Parks OG characters I think they would be stronger Ex.) Fix Figment ride to be better, Re-establish Sunshine pavilion. But this is an amazing first step!
ohhhh Sunshine Tree Pavilion... It immediately makes me smile.... That beautiful tree behind the counter where you would get your Citrus Swirl... The small animatronic Orange Bird with the thought bubble... The green acrylic leaves of the orange tree with the lighting designed to look like sunlight filtering down through the branches...(the motorized lighting filters were there for years even after the tree was removed)... It was so beautiful...it rocked my 8 year old world back in 1971... The whole park did...

Why? I mean leaving aside all the other points as to why it wouldn't make sense in MK to built a highly themed pirate setting, and then not have kids be able to enjoy it, what prevents adults from enjoying an adult cocktail at their table, while the family of four is also enjoying the area? I mean you are electing to go to WDW, not an adult all inclusive resort.

You would also be running afoul of adults with kids who would also want to enjoy the area. Are you going to do "drinker swap" so that Dad can enjoy his drinks and then switch with mom

Is there a reason they can’t/won’t just put the Barker Bird back in its original spot?

Foot traffic. People were stopping to see the entire show and blocking both the entrance and the walkway.

The same thing happened for with Juan the barker bird at Disneyland’s Enchanted Tiki Room.

Now its void of any theme at all. It was art and show design at some of its best by Imagineering with small things like that. For some reason now that kind of thing is not allowed anymore, just cant spend $ on such things everything has to be soulless and empty. :banghead:
