Iger pulled it off! Announces Disney park in Abu Dhabi!

And this will be as great as Tokyo as its not owned by TWDC and they can make their own creative choices!

WDW will be as bad as usual and will be worse going forward but that's not important ;)

…right

Somehow “winning” against all indicators

All that’s left now - after the opec park announcement - is the contract extension announcement

“Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?”
Look, you, me and many others were just wrong. They did well Q2. It is okay to admit it and it doesn't mean Q3 is going to be great.

Insisting that they are just making it up on actual financial filings is a stretch.

Their version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is going to be next level. And finally, someone who will put the money properly behind a Wakanda land.

Those are sure things, right?

Full press blitz rolling out

…everyone had that on their bingo card today, right?

Where is your actual evidence that fraud is occurring, your gut feeling notwithstanding? It’s not impossible, but I don’t see why you speak about it with such certainty and berate those unconvinced by your unsupported assertion.
You’ll never find “evidence” of anything. Corporate accounting is shell game…it’s the world we live in.

Move on.

I never expect anything looking like a tank job…it would never be allowed…especially by this guy…

…but flat based on the current climate was a reasonable guess…maybe a tick up.

Bookings aren’t up…crowds aren’t up…timeshare sales don’t appear to be (but there has been zero logic there for along time now)…

And we go on…

Are you cheering for a bad Q3?
Representation of the challenges they face is the only way we - the customers - can get necessary course corrections.

Cheering for one guy and a course giving us diminishing returns was never wise nor will not become wise anytime soon

It will take some time to read through this…but what’s a shock today is that no one - not a soul - from analysts down to the most diehard Disney fans on this board - expected a good report this time.

It’s why it sticks out like a fish out of whatever. Very Oz like.

Seems like we are in some type of non- information flooding world this morning…where information can be a “surprise”

Very odd in the context.

Now when is villians land (in the UAE) opening? 🤪

Bob has said several times today, both on Squawk Box and again on the earnings call, that the $30 billion parks investment they had previously discussed should be thought of as specifically for California and Florida. It's still kind of vague whether Cruise would be included in that number, but it's now very clear that international parks don't count.

It's a little nuts to suggest they are producing fraudulent theme park numbers when it really wouldn't be necessary given how much they have been trying to manage expectations of soft numbers for the parks. This would be a little like someone changing a D to an A rather than a B on a report card, not to mention a rather blasé attitude to future scandal and jail time.

Anyway...

This is interesting in comparison to Universal's recent theme park numbers and goes against the narrative we have been seeing on here about Disney's consumers deserting them in droves and finding better value at their closest competitor in Orlando. I don't like how they have been running WDW and don't know why this is, but it does seem very interesting to me that what is treated like common sense around here seems to actually be false.
