Welcome, one and all, to the One Sentence Competition: Monopoly Edition!

While your goal might be to set up the biggest illegal monopoly this side of New Jersey, that doesn’t mean that this competition won’t be as low stakes as any past episode of the OSC. As always, everyone is welcome: forum veterans, newcomers, lurkers, main forum-goers who stumbled upon the Imagineering forums while looking for news on the latest seasonal cupcake. And don’t worry, OSCME won’t take up much of your time; you can hop in or out at any point you’d like!

We’ll have ten "turns", with a new prompt (and space!) each turn. Every week or so, we’ll roll the dice and see where we land, and the next prompt will begin! Everyone gets three sentences to work with, plus one non-AI image. Use as much or as little as you like, but remember the first rule of business: you’ve got to spend sentences to make… points! Or something like that.

Every round you properly participate in, you’ll earn a point. Each round, the top three entrepreneurs will win the Terrier (third place, for an additional point), the Automobile (second place, for two additional points), and the Top Hat (first place, for three additional points). Whoever has the most points at the halfway mark will receive the Chance Card: a little bonus to incentivize getting an early lead! Whoever has the most points at the end of the season, meanwhile, will be crowned the holder of the Monopoly, and the winner of this little competition. Prestige and the chance to host the next episode of this competition are just two (and actually the only two) of the prizes you can expect to earn!

Of course, each round will also feature a Community Chest bonus point. Complete the challenge, and earn an extra point, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

The Rulebook

Don’t worry, this OSC is nowhere nearly as complicated as Monopoly so infamously is. Still, there are a couple of rules.
  1. No AI or plagiarism! I want to see your work as an Imagineer, not the work of someone else, or a computer program. This goes for both writing and images!
  2. Be sensible in your sentence structure. I beg of you, don’t subject me to run-on-and-on-and-on sentences - it won’t do you any favors in the points system (although, grammar nerd that I am, liberal semicolon usage is encouraged, as long as it’s correct and proper!)
  3. Have fun! Creativity is key in this kind of competition. You’ve got a wild idea that would never work in a large scale comp that you think you can pull off? Go for it!
Violation of the first rule will result in a Go Directly to Jail: that is, you’ll be expelled from the game. Violation of the second or third, meanwhile, won’t do anything worse than sink you in the rankings!

Have fun, and try to build the best theme park Monopoly you can!

For this game’s unique “GO” prompt, you’ll have the opportunity to warm your creative muscles up before the competition kicks off in earnest. The top three entries for this round will each win their Imagineer one extra point to start the competition with - a $200 starting salary, if you will. A very special thanks to @D Hulk for generously guest judging this round!

Everyone has a favorite theme park attraction, although that’s an understatement. It’d be more accurate to say that everyone has a theme park attraction they’re willing to go to battle for, destroying all opinions in their path! Conversely, though, everyone also has an attraction they revile, with the passion of a burning sun… or something close to it. We’ve all complained about a ride or show that simply should not exist, and what we would do to replace it. Well, today’s your lucky day!

Create a replacement for your least favorite attraction in a Disney park

This prompt is due on Thursday the 15th at 12:00 PM Disneyland Time (PST)

Tips ‘n’ Tricks

This prompt is extraordinarily open-ended, and that’s intentional! Let your passions shine through here. You want to try an outlandish IP, or (gasp) no IP at all? Go for it! Do your best to make your replacement work within the context of its park. And above all, have fun with it! There will be no bonus points this round, nor do entries automatically earn the player a point, as it’s simply a low-stakes way to get the game rolling. If you reach the top three, fantastic; you’ve got a bit of a lead going into the competition! If you don’t? There’s all the time in the world to catch up again!

Remember, you have three sentences to work with, plus an image, so use ‘em wisely!

Replacing Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom:

The Emperor's New Cruise
(I've been talking about this one for a while, so it's finally time to make it happen)
As part of the expansion to Adventureland, Tiana's Bayou Adventure has been utterly transformed into The Emperor's New Cruise, which retells the story of Kuzco and Pacha's adventures through the jungles of South America. The mountain (or mass of moss, or whatever it is these days) has been replaced with Kuzco's palace, with the queue telling the story (with mini-animatronic scenes designed by Kuzco himself, naturally) up to the point where Kuzco is turned into a llama and finds himself lost in the wilderness (the outdoor-around-the-back-section). The interior section of the attraction traces the rest of the film's plot, with the former HDYD section being Kuzco and Pacha's journey through the jungle (including the diner) pursued by Yzma and Kronk, Laughin' Place being Yzma's Laboratory (with dip-drop entrance), and the final drop cascading out of the nostril of the palace façade into the Kuzcotopia Finale.
