Trip Report Already? 2 broke guys for 2 more days of Music & Mickey! Live-ish!

Yes, yes, I know we just got back. We went in the middle of December, then again for Christmas, then again in the middle of January, and now - our third month in a row…

When: Feb 2-4
Where: All-Star Music, and All-Star Music (you’ll see.)
Who:

And Brian

Wait, wait - that’s not right. Pretty close, but not right. Let’s try again.

And Brian

OK but those were reject “blooper” pics from our last TR. Here’s one where we’re overdressed:

That’ll do.

And…Mickey.

If that wasn’t enough, it’s Cinco de Mayo, and we’re in “Mexico!”

The dog was barking behind us. 💕💕

The cup that margarita came in, it was not like a throwaway cup, but not glass. I decided to keep it. Dumped out the ice, wiped it out. Carried it inside the Mexico pavilion…and I was over carrying it. Chucked. 🤣

I have a feeling this area is going to be packed tonight! It’s already fairly dense. Glad we did it early!

I guess we’ll start wandering towards Canada. No particular reason. 😉

OK, so that meetup was planned. I believe someone partially let the cat out of the bag on @Tuvalu ‘s simulcast, er, trip report the day before. It’s all good!

This, if you’ve been reading along, was now our 2nd time dining at Le Cellier - the first time having been February (?) This time, I did it right and ordered the filet, as did Tu and Woody. Brian ordered his usual NY strip.

Dueling food photography.

Ask Tu about the risotto!

As always, the company and conversation were entertaining and the time passed quickly.

I could tell you the specifics, but the FBI might come knocking on your door. 😉

The food was delicious!

Some pretty much failed selfies on my part:

OK, we can crop that one for a great shot of the supermodels of Atlanta!

It’s dark in there - you have to hold your phone still - I didn’t. And where’s Brian? #selfiefail

We each made our way out of Epcot for the day. Our rough idea was to finally see our room, check on our bags, take a short break, and head over to see Julie at the Tune-In.

As it happens, Brian’s boss was also here at the ASM with his family. We thought at some point we might meet them for a drink at the pool bar.

Knowing we had a “hike” to our room after some hiking around Epcot, we took a detour to the ASM arcade for 12.5 minutes on the massage chairs.

During that massage, apparently it was decided we’d meet B’s boss at the pool bar afterwards - knowing HS closed at 9.

Cue ominous music.

We went to the pool bar, and I hesitantly ordered a mango margarita (keeping the cinco de mayo theme) but boss Steve showed up pretty quickly. His wife and daughter decided to go inside “for a hot dog.” What is wrong with these people? (They are not Disney regulars.)

After a moment of convo, conscious of the time, I thought I should let them chat a bit, go find our room, make sure our magic band worked to open it, and check on our luggage.

Let’s just start with I love music, and I do not have much appreciation for country.

I escaped Shania Twain in the common area, found the room (yay!) opened the door (yay!) and looked around for our bags. They were not there. Hmm…

I wondered, had I misunderstood something when we dropped our bags off (for the first time ever) that afternoon? It was about 12:30, and I asked the guy if they would be at our room before we got back from the park “in a few hours?” He said yes, but there may have been a slight language barrier.

Anyway, I had a claim check, so I figured maybe I was supposed to have picked them up myself from the front.

I stopped by the pool bar to update Brian, pounded the rest of my drink, and went to the front, growing annoyed. There was a line, and I didn’t even know if it was the right line, or if I had to wait or what - or if my bags were even there. (Insert ticking clock sound for HS as well.)

Two CMs in the lobby asked if everything was ok as I made my way through to the entrance. At that point, I knew I was giving RDF - resting douchey face.

Then they made me wait…and wait…and wait. I began to doubt myself - could they have been neatly stacked in a corner of the room, and I missed them after @Tuvalu got me drunk?

They came back with: “Oh, I think someone was already on the way to your room with your bags now!” What? I said that would be quite a coincidence after 7 hours, especially considering I just walked to the room and back and saw no one.

Tonyzilla was queuing up. I do not like being BS’d. I got a look or two from CMs as I paced, crushing buildings of Tokyo under my feet, recalling at dinner where I was just telling Tu and Woody how silly people were for letting little things wreck their day in trip reports!

I now had to walk all the way back to honky-tonk hellroom on a maybe. I stopped at the pool bar to update Brian, spew an un-Disneylike expletive (oops, Jersey tawk) (his boss must have thought I was a nut) and return to the room to find this:

IMG_1434.jpeg

Well, I definitely hadn’t missed them in a corner!

Is seven hours normal? I doubt that. I think what riled me up (other than drinks and meds 🤣) was - very surprisingly - CMs were unsympathetic. I’m chalking that up to my “over it” resting douchey face. I probably didn’t come off very sympathetic.

It was now 8pm. Too late for Tune-In. How to salvage the evening?

A quick last minute ADR at the G-Flo Cafe! We just barely made it there at 8:59pm for an 8:50 res which we booked at 8:30.

Well worth it!

IMG_1437.jpeg

These carnitas tacos were so yummy.

IMG_1438.jpeg

Pork shank for me, boneless fried chicken breast for Bri.

IMG_1439.jpeg
IMG_1440.jpeg

All delicious. Perfect. Hit the spot.

After two bites, I realized I was the guy in the Snickers commercial who went from hangry to happy!

And a teeny view of the fireworks.

IMG_1436.jpeg

I even took a strawberry lychee mousse to go.

IMG_1441.jpeg

And finally unpacked poor Mickey, who had been trapped with the bags all day!

IMG_1442.jpeg

And all was right in the World.

What would Tuesday bring?

“My baby done left me, took off with a cowpoke, stole my tractor…twang, twang, twang…”

Yep. Still in country fair therapy. Help!

The view:

IMG_1443.jpeg

I actually like that better than a pool!

Tuesday morning, we got out of the room before 11, which is good for us. We had options between MK first vs HS first. Decided to play bus bingo.

Which bus was first?

Hollywood Studios it is!

Our fave attraction: Julie at the Tune-In Lounge.

I can confirm there are still bar stools!

IMG_1445.jpeg

But only 3 at each end of the bar. The rest have been placed around high-top tables. Supposedly, this will end up being more of a lounge vs. bar seating. Are they trying to ruin our lives?!

Naturally, we sat next to a couple we’ve met several times before over the years, and had a nice catch up chat.
