The problem with Oaken is that Disney over-delivered on theme setting riders up for disappointment EXPECTING it to be something it isn't. It's the E-ticket facade for the C-ticket Little Mermaid all over again.
What did Disney do to give guests the false impression that the ride was more than just a kiddie ride?

Simply because of extensive theming?

Does that mean whenever Disney, in the past, skimped out on the theming of a C-Ticket, they were doing guests a favor by showing it's just an underwhelming ride?

I was expecting Seven Dwarfs without the swinging. I assumed that's what it was based on the concept art.

I do not know what the big deal is, 7DMT is a fun ride, it has wide ridership. Something highly themed Villains at the level of 7DMT, in my opinion, would be great

Heck, clone the track (saves money) but theme the cr@p out of it, maybe enclose it and theme the cr@p out if it for villains!

In any event, we got about 10 years to argue about it ;)

Concept art shows extensive theming, but not a full track like 7DMT, no?

So, again, isn't this just a different way to blame extensive theming?

It's one thing to make an assumption, find out it's wrong, and then saying, "Well, I assumed incorrectly!"

But here, we're getting people making an assumption, finding out it's wrong, and then saying, "Well, Disney tricked me!! This is all Disney's fault!! Disney shouldn't be giving C-Ticket rides extensive theming!!!"

7 Dwarfs is cute and all but terribly short... I am hoping when they get to building Villain's Land sometime in the 2030s, they will at least have longer ride experiences than that...
I don't think anyone has ever complained about a richly themed experience... let alone a nicely themed C-ticket... it is when the C-Ticket is the only attraction in an area....that was marketed as something amazing... that is when people complain.... Over-promise, over-charge, under-deliver....

The only piece of concept art I ever saw just showed the one turnaround, but I just assumed there was more. I don't feel tricked, just disappointed.

Seems to me that if Disney kept the mild thrills and theming of Oaken's and just extended the track by another 1,000' or so, that you'd placate more fans on both sides of the argument.

Obviously we don't know much yet

Are we thinking the coasted being added is going to be an intense looping coaster or an moderately intense but fun family style coaster like Hagrid's ride at Universal?

It seems like Villains Land will have a D- or E- level coaster. Most likely a 'family coaster' that's also a 'show coaster.' Whether the land's second ride is a poorly or richly themed C-Ticket, we'll have to wait to see.
With all due respect, this sounds like a less impressive version of Darkmoor Village (especially if the signature attraction turns out to be a D-ticket).

When people don't care for one of the E Ticket rides, they argue vehemently that it's only a D Ticket.

When people really like a D Ticket ride, they argue vehemently that it's indeed an E Ticket ride.

Disney Fans: The parks need more C- and D-Ticket rides!!

Also Disney Fans: Ugh!, It's not an E-Ticket ride!!

I feel like at minimum, this will be like Hagrid or Hiccup’s. I wouldn’t expect a Velocicoster or Stardust Racers, if they did I would be pleasantly surprised.

I agree, if I had to guess it will be a family coaster to ensure maximum ridership to sell the maximum LLs

I would think it will be viewed as fairly thrilling by Disney standards (especially with the theming making it feel a bit spooky/scary) but rather tame by coaster enthusiast standards

I also think will depend on how approachable the other elements of the land are. If the dark ride is something everyone feels comfortable doing/not scary, plus if they have a show and a play area etc so there is plenty for kids to do then they can probably ramp up the thrills of the coaster a bit more

Whatever they create my expectation is its has world class theming. I sincerely hope that is the case.

There is enough at Magic Kingdom for two days for families with young children. I don’t think making the Villains coaster a 7DMT level is wise. Make it thrilling. “But my five year old won’t want to ride!” Well, 95% of other rides in MK are tailored just for them. I think they’ll be okay not riding one ride.

Internally, they are both being developed as E tickets or major attractions. We already know this, even getting into the classification weeds, the other attraction is definitely not a C.

It’s the Galaxy’s edge model.
