Extending upcoming trip by 1 night

Hello everyone-

Hoping the experts here can help with some guidance/ tips. When I booked our upcoming trip (Friday 9/20- Friday 9/26) at BWV in a studio, my hospital needed me back to work the weekend; now I am cleared to have the weekend off as well so I am looking to add 1 night (Friday 9/26) to check out on Saturday 9/27. On the website and over the phone, the only thing available is to upgrade to a 1 BR which is not needed especially at the significant price increase.

Can I be hopeful that over the next couple weeks that I can make the change? Does anyone know any way to get this done?

Thx for reading

Thank you but really hoping to keep it simple without having to switch rooms/ hotels and BWV was what we were set on as in over 15 visits we’ve never stayed there. I’ll keep checking every couple days and hopefully something becomes available.

Really, it seems to me your only hope is if someone cancels. It’s not impossible, but the timing would have to be perfect.

Switching hotels is not the worst thing, a lot of people plan it that way. For example, you can switch from a hotel with easy access to Epcot to a hotel with easy access to Magic Kingdom, and have a different experience on the last day. Instead of looking at it as inconvenient, look at it as a bit of adventure. We’ve done it many times.

Super longshot: you can call in and ask if they can extend it for you, but I’ve learned over the last few years, they now pretty much see the same inventory that we see online.

The only other thing I can think of is to hire a travel agent, and they will be able to check for you on a regular basis.

Just tried by making the stay Friday-friday to get the extra day and with my current free dining it’s not available but changing the offer to “stay longer and save” it is but significantly more expensive. Knowing the studio is available, what are the chances someone can “override” and let me book with free dining?

You would just have to call and ask.

Think it’s a possibility or are they pretty rigid?
I doubt they’ll extend the offer. But you might be able to book the one extra night as a separate reservation.
There is a possibility that you’d have to move rooms though if you do it that way.

Have you tried looking for a regular room at the Boardwalk Inn, rather than a DVC studio?

Thx for all the replies and here’s an update- finally had time call and after explaining everything, I was put on hold for about 15 minutes while the cm escalated it. When she came back they were able to override and add the night keeping my BWV studio w/ free dining!
How wonderful! Enjoy your fabulous trip!

That's amazing!! You must've gotten a very helpful cm. I called a couple days ago to see if I could add on a night to the beginning of our trip, and was told no. She did say I could make a new reservation at double the price, but that wasn't a helpful suggestion. So now I'm trying to figure out where to stay our first night. I'm so happy to hear a good report like yours, though!

Very helpful indeed. She listened completely to my explanation that I see the room is available when removing discounts so it’s not a real inventory problem, but rather semantics. Of course, it always helps to be nice/ friendly when speaking with them even if not apparent they can. Get you the outcome you are looking for.

They're mostly oh so very friendly and so accommodating when I've dealt with them. I always give them great positive surveys as well!

Because there’s some wrong with my brain 😂, now I’m starting to second guess if the studio will be roomy enough for my wife, 10 y/o daughter and myself and if I should switch to a 1 BR while it is still available.

We have free dining so probably won’t have much use for the kitchen but the elbow room and washer/dryer is tempting- but not sure I can justify the 2k difference.
