This is an interesting one from Magic Kingdom today.

A couple of weather stations setup near Big Thunder Mountain. Both are Tempest.

The devices measure:

- Outdoor air temperature and relative humidity, dew point and “feels like” temperatures (heat index and wind chill)
- Station pressure and barometric (sea-level) pressure
- Wind speed, wind direction, 1 minute average and gusts
- Lightning activity (strikes and distance up to 25 miles)
- Rain onset, intensity, duration and accumulation
- DeltaT, wet bulb temp, air density
- UV index, brightness, solar radiation

Maybe someone's trying to make the case that the paths approaching the ride should be covered...

There is an identical station on Lighthouse Point, the DCL destination, as of last week. I thought it was odd because it looked so temporary.

Could just be being used to monitor atmospheric conditions in accordance with OSHA recommendations for Heat Stress and Injury Prevention.
Or now that Universal ditched Twister these are the equivalent of height balloons for a weather based ride....

Well now I know that the weather information on the resort TV is 101% accurate.
