Rumor Tokyo Disneyland Splash Mountain Retheme Discussion

With that said it would have been nice to see all the different takes on these classic attractions before they went away as I do plan on visiting all the parks around the world… one sweet day.
While I can't entirely decide how I feel about all of this, we wouldn't lose all that much in terms of originality.

Jungle Cruise out there is a mirror image version of the WDW JC with a few updated scenes and a little more going on at night.

Their Tiki Room is also pretty identical to Florida's, and I can't say I recommend the show inside.

The railroad is underappreciated and probably the second best in terms of scenery, but doesn't show anything you can't basically see somewhere else (nothing in Adventureland, check. River, check. Big Thunder, check. Primeval World, check...).

The Swiss Family Treehouse is...uh...very, very similar to one of them probably? It's actually the newest version of the attraction, opening in 1993, somehow later than the Paris version. But Tokyo didn't really start building original attractions until after 1994, so I'm sure it's taken verbatim from somewhere. Their treehouse has been closed since 2020 and at this point I doubt it will ever reopen.

Pirates I'm honestly surprised they're keeping, given how seemingly unpopular it is over there compared to the others around the world.

Having gone fairly recently:
Their Tiki Room is that weird Stitch thing. For me worse than FL's.

The Railroad was a neat idea but it was so heavy one sided, it was an odd design and short.

Pirates is not quite as good as WDW's in queue strength, or DL's in terms of ride experience, but dang, its condition like most of Tokyo is impecible and a treat.

Adventureland and Frontierland crossing over in Tokyo is like a fever dream...

Tom Sawyer's Island is odd there for anyone expecting state versions. I like.
However. Incredibles feel tonally wrong, Up could be fun.

I was referring to all the parks worldwide receiving changes to classic attractions. Mostly was referring to WDW and TDR. But I can see how the Adventureland in Tokyo wouldn’t be the biggest thing to miss out on from a foreign park for a lifelong Disneylander. Would be cool to see but that would also imply that I’d be going to Tokyo multiple times. I’d be lucky to get there once at this rate and if that’s the case I guess I may as well experience the unique attractions.

I guess I just don’t like what these changes imply - that these attractions may be expendable at Disneyland too. With that said, it’s not quite apples to apples as DLR has a different clientele and then you have the whole Walt/ Disneyland history thing.

Honestly I think this isn’t a good sign for the future of critter country. If they’re willing to essentially demolish and rebuild an entire land, why wouldn’t they do it to critter country? It’s also a gargantuan amount of space they can use for more of the park.

The red pointer is where Splash is, so it’s basically the largest portion of the park.

If anything it's the opposite. They've done Fantastyland, Tomorrowland and Toontown. Next is Adventureland, It may have bought more time for Critter Country but that and Frontierland would be the last part needing an update

Critter Country is the most detailed land at the park. It was the start of the level of quality we’ve seen at DisneySea. It’s noticeably ahead of every area in the park besides the BatB area. It’s also the smallest individual land. Add to the fact that the ride is so incredibly popular (one of three rides they sell individual premier access to); OLC is not touching it if they can avoid it (it being pressure from Disney).

Now the Rivers on the other hand could be at risk of being shortened. A combination of that land and cleared storage land behind ROA could very well be the next major expansion, but I wouldn’t expect that for another decade or so.

While it does not mean it can't change, but for those that are not familiar, Tom Sawyer's Island is very popular there and easy to get to by foot. It has a very pouplar and large quick service location tied to it as well, so the ROI more than healthy.

but the main problem with Tom sawyers island that it closes early than the rest of the park. (fireworks launch area nearby, for obvious safety reasons)

at winter it closes when the sun goes down. and the least visited places in the entire park.

My suggestion is that they could atleast adjust that area for an entire indoor themed land like Mermaid lagoon.

Since Tokyo Disneyland doesn’t really have spaces that are full under the roof(besides world bazaar), Especially when its rainy season + Extreme weather conditions like summer and winter.

And in recent years the weather especially in summer has been dangerously hot that even performances of outdoor shows are affected and parades has to be canceled due to hot weather.
