EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I would rather see them completely block off that center area, demo and completely reimagine it... The "gardens" area is not that interesting...or really even interesting at all... That space needs a grander vision.... We are not getting the Table building, we instead got the Flex Space...so knowing that is here to stay, they could at least admit it is not an engaging entrance area, Leave a lot of the planters and crap they put in, but carefully demo that heart of the plaza and do something grander... Re-use the light towers in the new design, but put something epic and beautiful there...It currently just feels like a sad failure...and fixing the pavement lights and the trip hazards are still going to leave it the sad failure that it is... The park deserved better.

That table building would ultimately have been terrible. I think we dodged a bullet with that one.

I agree. A fountain would not be a good fit. If they can attempt to keep the lighting and music - water gurgling would not blend well with that.
I could care less of the floor lights, if no fountain then why not rip out the concrete all together and just have a green grass floor Keep the lit up Pillars. My issue with the area is there's too much concrete, and rust. The thing I was most excited that never came from concept art was all the special descending, and climbing paths that would wind through the area whether the color is non realistic.

To each their own, I love the lighting package in that area.

That thing would been such an eyesore, the shape is as much as a planter. The only thing that would help is all the those private event population would want to take spot there and give us back the UK area and Italy area for normal guests firework viewing. On the other hand that building would been such a showoff with influences and event payers!

This just came to mind and hit me hard, with the incredible views you have of Spaceship Earth inside within Creation's Shop's Giant open windows, imagine if you looked over and saw Fountain of Nations with the water just rising high, 🥹 some here say the water wouldn't blend with the music and such but I can't help it would've enriched the atmosphere of a park setting. They really made a mistake getting rid of it. Epics fountain is great but it feels Bellagio because it sits on a Lagoon of water whereas FOF was the Spirit of Epcot!

I'm not picturing a "gurgling fountain," but a successor to the Fountain of Nations. Heck, put it in the exact spot where the Fountain of Nations was. It's an embarrassing downgrade right now.

@wdwmagic said the infrastructure for a fountain isn't where the planter is...but how hard would it be to bring back the infrastructure from the FoN?

Someone would have to go collect the water again…

FoN requires a large amount of power, pumps and hardware. There isn't space for any of it.

As an example, this is the hardware needed for Moana.

It would be very hard now that the area has finished construction. A fountain like that requires a lot of behind the scenes infrastructure. Which is most likely why they got rid of it because a planter is a lot easier and cheaper to maintain. The idea of a fountain coming back is just not going to happen until they renovate the entire area again and decide to re-pipe water lines under the ground.

There must be *some* irrigation for the planter as it is now, right? So there is some form of water leading to that area? I'll have to look closely at it next time I'm there. Are there sprinkler heads in the planter area?

Steve, wasn't the pump infrastructure for the fountain of Nations located in the basement of communicore West? I seem to recall a diagram of the basement posted at the beginning of this project and there was a section called pump room. If so, why can't it be reverted back. The basement is still there. They just built the annoying DJ area on top of it.

So where was all the infrastructure for the FON? Underneath it? There was no building or water filtration system for it... Honestly I think the water system for Journey Of Water is because guests are encouraged to get their hands in the water....it would be easy to pass on all sorts of nasty stuff if there was no filtration/treatment...
FON was behind a railing... there was no playing in it's waters.
Disney is getting ready to tear out a river and an island...surely they would be able to put a fountain where a fountain ought to be.... if they wanted to.
