Refurbishment coming to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort lobby

We have DVC there and were considering not staying there over the holiday season (early December) because the monorail lines and crowds. We decided to try it this year, but it seems like we won't have to worry about that now.
The monorail line/rides will always be crowded, gingerbread house or not. Disney is consistently adding more rooms around the loop, and plenty of MK day guests use the resort monorail to get to their cars.

I think this is much better than it could have been. I don’t understand why people are complaining about the bar. It looks like it fits the theme to me.

It’s more about the potential unnecessary traffic complication and seating loss than it is about theme.
I suppose that’s a fair point. I’ve heard the lobby gets pretty bad at Christmas so that could definitely be a problem. (We always go around 11 after magic kingdom closes)

You new here? Announcement. Kewl Disney adults tripping over themselves to trash the announcement in a weakly witty way (they give each other points for including lightning lane references). Rinse. Repeat.
And then other Disney adults acting like those who don’t like it are just wanting to trash an idea just to trash it.

An additional bar seems unnecessary - is the enchanted rose usually at capacity?

It will change the atmosphere of the lobby, and almost certainly take away seating for those just wanting to sit and enjoy the ambience.

I’m also guessing the tree may need to move from the center? Which will take seating away during the holidays.

So there are some legit negatives from this change - but overall the art looks ok - it moves a bit too modern for me but it could be worse.

Yeah it could've been worse! I'm relieved, but why does it have to be a Bar when there's one upstairs, citrico's etc. It should be an open Cafe with seating where if you wanted coffee or hot tea you could and have it in a real cup, sip and enjoy which is way more GF style and would be family friendly and welcoming!

Epcot is all about alcohol but no cafe spot if you wanted to sit just for a coffee in a real cup and dessert you can't because you need a restaurant reservation.!

The project runs through November 2025 and includes updates to finishes, furnishings, and the addition of a new Victorian-inspired lobby bar.

So possible return of Gingerbread House directly into the lobby anyway?
