That was the only reason to fly SW, IMO.

I like SW for two reasons; no charge for checked bags and they have a lot of non-top flights to Orlando from my airport. Actually the flight price was always a little more but no charge for bags made up the difference. I am booking on Delta this time to save $150.00 even though they don't offer non-stop flights from where I fly from.

I live in Phoenix one of Southwest's "hubs". It's also a hub for American Airlines.

With young kids I've almost exclusively flown Southwest. Now with them charging for bags I may bite the bullet, get the American Airlines credit card (for the free bags) and only ever fly Southwest in a pinch.

Southwest is another company, like Disney, that is being ruined by bean counters who want to try to squeeze every drop of money from their customers.

I don't know, they have been taken over by an investment company out to make a quick buck. I see them being gone in the near future.

Wow, I did not know that that changes my mindset. On a positive note, I did book a flight this week with them for August and they are still offering free bags for purchases thru end of May or May 28rth, something like that.

Living in a Southwest hub probably 90% of my domestic flights have been on SW, I don’t think that’ll be true anymore, most the nonstop flights are long gone and now the perks are gone, not much reason to even consider them anymore.
