I have no idea what the timeline will be on this (which I agree is really annoying), but one thing to consider is that the Zootopia show at Animal Kingdom was announced in Sept 2023, and ITTBAB still hasn't closed yet. So there is hope for your August trip!

Everybody does know that the month of June is hot in Florida and they choose not to book their trips during the hot months. I think heat is a legit reason for the low crowds at WDW during the summer in recent years. I go to California if I want to do Disney between May-September.
