DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Trying to catch up on this thread, so is the Indy ride go at this point or are we still in the blue skies period?

Universal Star Trek land and hotel

Totally agree with this. I haven't been to Galactic Starcruiser, but based on the YouTube tours and such I've seen: I wouldn't call it disappointing, but it doesn't look anywhere near worth the money asked. You could absolutely do a full sized resort hotel and pull off 90% of the show elements...

Will Universal Orlando ever have a good show?

I rather loved the Wild, Wild, Wild West Stunt Show back in the day. Good stunts, plenty of fun gags (people falling in the well, Ma knocking her sons' teeth out, the TNT building, blowing the saloon open, etc.), and a relatively fun script.

    Hulk Trains Scrapped

I was under the impression part of the reason for the track replacement was to accommodate the heavier new trains, less so because of actual wear and tear. That said, anecdotally, I think Hulk was getting rougher, but that can be attributed to a number of factors. One thing is certain: whatever...

    Incredible Hulk Refurbishment Confirmed

Probably unlikely, but it is feasible. IIRC, for Kraken at Sea World, they filled the insides of the tracks with sand to reduce the noise/vibration.

What are Uni's Plans for Marvel?

Dunno about him, but speaking for myself: Taken as their own world, separate from the comics, they are incredible films (TDK in particular, of course). As an adaptation of the Batman comics/lore to a real Batman fan, they are pretty horrendous. They obviously go for a more gritty and realistic...

Kongfrontation has been gone over a decade and it's now even more depressing

I was never terribly crazy about the attraction, I was just citing it as pretty much the only example I can think of where a "lost" attraction came back (maybe Tiki Room too?), and I really appreciated that. Thanks for rotflcoptering all over my post though.

Kongfrontation has been gone over a decade and it's now even more depressing

I was thinking about this recently. The terrible thing about these lost rides is that they are gone now, and they were tangible. Hollywood can reboot a movie, but you still get to keep and cherish the original just as it was when you were a child. Once theme park attractions are gone, they are...

    The Universal Rumors thread

I don't exactly disagree per se, but I think there could be some water in questioning if HP 2.0 will be as explosive as the original land was. I'm not saying it won't be, and by all rights, it deserves to be based on what we know. There's also the fact that even smaller expansions like...

Wait, what? Refurb "go dark" or close "go dark"?

    Three Cheers for Universal

I've always noticed how dim the projections in Forbidden Journey are; was kinda disappointed by it, but I always figured it was to cut down on light pollution in the surrounding scenes. Good on Universal if they found a way to lighten them up a bit more, especially if they will have better IQ too.

Wow...just wow...500 million a year for the foreseeable future...

As StageFrenzy mentioned, the ride was previously called Earthquake, and based on the 1974 film. As I mentioned, it was already quite an old property when the ride was new, though the sort of slow advance in special effects from 1974-1990 before CGI gained traction meant it stayed relatively...

Wow...just wow...500 million a year for the foreseeable future...

Well said. To add, the risk is banking on a franchise that fails to stay relevant; as Universal has done before with Waterworld in CA, and Twister here. I'd be the first to volunteer ET for the axe, but fwiw, I still see it packing in the crowds on busy days. Don't know if that's always the...

Universal announce "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley" to open in 2014

Man... that long narrow building attached to the train station that comes across the bottom of that picture; you think that's for the queue?
