EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

In those ones, they do look similar, but for some reason that one picture of the opening scene Figment animatronic looks off when you compare it with the others. Maybe it's just the angle?

EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Part of it to me is that the faces of the animatronics in the original ride(or at least the opening scene) seem to be more “realistic” looking than even the current JIIwF animatronics. When you look at them side by side with the JIIwF animatronics, it is off looking IMO.

Tower of Terror effects status watch

It’s been inconsistent for a while if the projector shuts off/covered after the projection.

Foxtrot's drop profile motion delay is getting pretty bad again. This is a solid ~3 second delay behind the audio:

No, this is the source projections for JIIwF:

EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Speaking of the animations, someone uploaded the source projections onto YT yesterday. Not sure if it would be against the Forum rules to link it here.

Tower of Terror effects status watch

Found a newly uploaded 1994 POV, this one was during the late 1994 update where the drop audio was slightly modified and the light was added to the top of the VVC. You can also see the sparker function on the right side of the "O" and possibly the second one is located on the "E". (Look closely...

EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

I have to ask, are you sure? The head looks makeshift(especially the eyes which have smaller pupils), and disregarding the legs, it seems smaller. This one also has head, tail, and mouth movement, which I didn’t think was on the original animatronic(if it even had any motion outside of the blocks).

EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Looks like they could be refurbishing the T&T labs Figment Animatronic currently. Interesting choice of a stand-in, I would think they would have used one of the Kodak shop figures such as the one used during the FotA festival.

Amazing find, that’s definitely it. Im surprised by how small the panel is for it. I’ve been trying to archive any 1994 Tower of Terror videos I can find.

EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Not sure where the correlation came from with that CGI design and "Cartoony Figment". I'll chime in too that I am not really a fan of the animatronic design of Figment either, it's too "realistic" looking IMO. If Figment is about imagination, why should his design follow the "ultra-realistic...

The Real Genius of Tower of Terror

I will say that I believe that Eisner was better at plussing rides like Tower of Terror and making sure that the show effects were maintained. Tower got new drop sequences every few years, while under Bob Iger, we only had the 2010 Summer Nightastic update that was temporary, and the show...

    News Destination D23 2025

For anyone who was there during the Down the Rabbit Hole segment with Walt Disney Archives, was anything shown for Tower of Terror? Still odd to me that they prohibited filming and photos for that panel.
