I've definitely noticed a change. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but something just isn't there. I still love disney just as much as ever, but before you could feel how all the CM's and everybody else behind the scenes at DW put their heart into making your stay as magical as possible, but...

I always carry me a small backpack, it's much more out of the way than a purse. Especially if you carry as much stuff as I do =p It frees up your arms and you don't have to worry about bumping people with it and all that. We've been to DW several times and we've never had a problem taking them...
