    DHS 35th

Looks like they didn’t learn from the Epcot 25th or subsequent debacles, where fans outdid the company on cobbling together an anniversary celebration. Some fan groups are already advertising other meetups.

News V.I.Passholder Days return in 2024

I didn’t realize the restaurant had closed. I haven’t been to WDW in a while (too expensive), except for a couple of days for the D23 event in September, but I always thought that restaurant was interesting and unique. Sad to see it go.

Question about docking station that uses thunderbolt

It has a Thunderbolt cable that fits a USB-C port (which on my work tablet is also a Thunderbolt port). And yes, it powers my work tablet when plugged into it. I am trying to buy a laptop that I can also have that docking station plugged into it for the multiple monitors.

Question about docking station that uses thunderbolt

I have a Dell docking station for work (with two monitors and sound attached) that connects to my work-provided Dell tablet via USB-C with Thunderbolt. I have to buy a new personal laptop, which I would also like to connect to the docking station from time to time, for the dual monitors. But I...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

Because I was talking about the trend as a whole, as @Disone had explained; this announcement is consistent with it. The reason I fell in love with WDW in the first place was the attention to detail and theming. I also hope that they read our concerns and understand what makes Disney...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

That may be true, but their statement specifically cited murals, paintings, and portraits as the details that they highlighted. That is consistent with the overall de-theming and removal of architectural detail in exchange for plain walls with artwork (like a Marriott) that has been the...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

Whether that space was well-designed before doesn’t affect that fact that it is lazy today — and that Disney used to be extraordinary at architectural detail and full theming. It was what made Disney unique, and anything but lazy. I just call it when i see today, because I want Disney to have...

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

That is what is lazy about it. They are not architectural detail, which is a hallmark of the era.

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

“Murals,” “drawings,” and “portaits” do not equate to architectural detail. Art, yes; architecture, no. Especially when intending to represent a Victorian beach resort or a carousel from the Gilded Age… That is what is lazy about it.

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

I am mostly talking about the architectural details that are going away in the general de-theming of the resort.

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

Exactly. People don’t seem to understand Victorian — and heaven forbid any actual architectural reference to the Flagler era in Florida upon which the “Grand Floridian Beach Resort” is supposed to draw inspiration.

News 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort reopening in April 2024

Because I am talking about the wall itself, as I made clear by saying it was a mural on a plain wall. Victorian architecture was full of ornate woodwork — not plain. Murals and paintings are cheaper.

And once again murals and drawings will constitute their idea of decoration and renovation on what I would assume is a modern plain wall again, instead of the ornate architectural details that the Victorian era should have. Lazy. Again.
