We have stayed at AKL four times now and all but once had a standard room that had some sort of Savannah view. The first time we had a “view” of the walkway to the bus stop. That was an entirely different animal viewing experience. (And the worst room possible)

I loathe the gigantic nature of moderates (excluding French quarter) and the multiple bus stops etc. I would go with Pop.

If your DH likes the "prepaid" aspect of the plan, I would put that amount of money into a gift card and use that to pay for all the food on the trip - and whatever is left is yours to buy a fabulous souvenir ;) Unless you do a lot of character dining, we always have spent way less on our own...

I have had good luck at securing my reservations at night the night before. People change their minds and you can benefit from their cancellations.
