Star Wars Weekends discontinued at Disney's Hollywood Studios

I personally think this announcement should have been made at D23. I'm sure Disney knew then what the plan was. A nice 'Hey, Star Wars Land is coming! . . . and a new Seasons of the Force event will replace Star Wars Weekends' would have been nice. Instead, they drop little hints and nuggets...

Star Wars Weekends - 2016 - Trip planning around rumors.

I saw that! Now we can cancel our May booking. Of course we were up at 5:45 am Saturday making our 'just-in-case' ADR's for May. Had this announcement happened on Friday, we could have slept in! Darn you Disney!! LOL!

Star Wars Weekends - 2016 - Trip planning around rumors.

That's it! . . . After reading this article, I went with the back-up plan and made an April booking. Now I've got two trips scheduled. One in April (Preferred weather and time off for the kids) and one in May (just in case SWW falls the same time as usual). May the best trip win...

Star Wars Weekends - 2016 - Trip planning around rumors.

We have a trip booked for May 5th - 15th, 2016. Our hope was to be there for the Star Wars Weekends merchandise and character meals (which usually begin at the beginning of May), then catch the 1st day of SSW (assuming that would be May 13th), then fly home that weekend. With the announcement...

Eater Magazine post several Walt Disney World dining/drinking articles

I wasted (in a good way) the better part of my week reading those articles. Very well done and enjoyable.

What's the one thing you HAVE to have on your visit to WDW?

It's funny, the more times you go, the longer that "just one thing" list gets! Based on my last trip, it's a tie between the Zebra Dome (Boma) or the Carrot Cake Cookie (HS). They were both so wonderfully delicious, that I can't imagine not going back to get them again!

    Shades of Green

I have friends who've stayed at Shades and they learned pretty quickly that walking to the Poly and using that as their transportation hub made the most sense. They said the busses seemed slow and the few minute walk was "no biggie".

Best hotel for a WDW newbie?

If I were in my 20's, going to the WDW with my BFF, and aren't lugging any kids around with me, I'd stay near Epcot. Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club; can't go wrong with any of them. You guys will have a blast being so close to World Showcase and The Boardwalk district. Plus, a quick boat /...

    Grand Floridian VS Polynesian Village

Feels like a funeral home to me . . . lol! I'm only halfway joking. It is magnificent on the outside, and the restaurants are top notch, but the decor on the inside is just a little too stuffy for my taste. The Poly just has a more relaxed atmosphere that just seems to suit our family a bit...

Worst part of the Resorts and why?

I've stayed on site many times, and have had wonderful experiences. However, there are a few things, about certain resorts, that I don't care for. They are; POFQ - I did not like how people pull their in-room chairs out of their rooms an onto the common balcony. I understand why they do it...

    AK Lodge VS. Wilderness Lodge

Hey Philo, We've done split stays many times and use the dinning plan. You do have to book two separate stays, tho. As long as you book dinning and all your park tickets (for the entire trip) to the first hotel, then you're good. Leaving just hotel and dinning (if needed) on the second booking.

    AK Lodge VS. Wilderness Lodge

Back in 2003, my husband and I had the same dilemma, so . . . . we split the trip between the two! We stayed 5 nights at WL and 3 nights at AKL. It was perfect and gave us a great taste of both. Actually, we went in thinking AKL was going to be the star and came away completely in love with...
