This is terrible! (Thread orginally posted 9/11/2001)

Twenty-one years. Thank you, Steve, for preserving this. The world is so different than it was in 2001. I look back on this thread and think about how, if it happened today, the division in this country might have prevented the bonds we all formed on that day. I'm not partaking in any of the...

Where have twenty years gone? As always, a big thank you to Steve for preserving this. For the first time in twenty years, I did not read through this thread. The local base was quiet today--they livestreamed their memorial ceremony this morning, and saw a few minutes of that. I saw a clip of...

It's September 11, and I can't believe 19 years have passed since this day. Thank you for maintaining this thread for us, Steve. This is always home for me on 9/11. I miss you all, and once again, thank you to everyone here who helped us hold each other through that day.

Thank you, Steve, for keeping this for us. At the time the towers fell, for those who knew me that day, I was talking about applying for PhD programs in American Studies. I had quit teaching and was looking for something else to do with my life. Those who know me know that the events of 9/11...

Sadly, this does not surprise me. We all watched that smoking debris and common sense said it was toxic and dangerous, but the government didn't want to admit that they had a giant hazmat site and spend the $ required to keep everyone safe. Stomach turning. I've watched the news regularly for 15...

For those confused about the Silent Thread...

Oh, Fievel--that is amazing that you are there today. And yes, the bond we shared can't be undone. If you get a chance, read Gae Polisner's THE MEMORY OF THINGS, which came out this week. It was a difficult read for me because it brought so much back, but it is very much about how the tragic...

How is it 15 years? I can still feel the terror in the pit of my stomach, hear the scramble of those jets overhead. This archived thread is such an important artifact of the day, and I don't know how many there are of these, but it's invaluable. As I do every year, I read through the thread from...
