Current theory: At D23 Brazil we find out that a Brazil pavilion is coming to Epcot, with a new Three Caballeros attraction, meaning that the Gran Fiesta Tour becomes a lite version of the DCA Coco ride. The concept art looked vaguely like the IASW style scene from Gran Fiesta Tour IMO.
I would have to imagine that there need to be at least 2 more major additions to the park before you close Everest for a long period of time for a truly cosmetic reason
Disney should have a biannual “expo” of some sort where they announce things like this in front of their dedicated fan base. I’m sure it would be very cool and get lots of media attention too!
This is a very important distinction. Just because the “history” taught in schools for years is finally being adjusted to accurately show what happened in the past does not mean history is being changed, it is simply being corrected.
I guess this is how people who were around for classic Epcot felt when Horizons or classic Imagination left. I understand why it is being done and agree, but it is absolutely devastating to lose the ride that really made me fall in love with Disney.

If I’m not mistaken, the concept for Dueling Dragons was taken to Universal by former Imagineers after Beastly Kingdom fell apart. Not 100% positive on that though.
With the rumors of an expanded Jurassic Park/World presence at Universal coming in the future, I don’t see how a new addition to Animal Kingdom would not involve dinos. It gives a clear counter to their expansion and also would fix the weakest link in the park.
