i could be wrong here, but im sure that the cable CANNOT touch the ground, as that would introduce dirt and small granuals into the cable, which act as sandpaper and can destroy the cable. tradesman who rely on ropes will tell you they hate getting their ropes dirty or muddy for this reason...

you are overlooking the fact that the gondolas are mirror tinted. MIRROR TINTED. mirror tint reflects far more heat then even regular tint, and regular tint easily cuts the internal ambient temperature down...

and fyi, i live in jersey, unless they replaced it, that skyride is missing cause of hurricane sandy. makes no difference tho, seaside heights is nothing but a teenager...
