Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Yes, I'm saying Disney, and all corporations, need to play a larger part in the US social safety net. And yes, that means shareholders, as private individuals, need to pitch in more. And yes, I'm saying that Disney should keep these people on their payroll for some period of time even if...

Shareholders can apply pressure. It's not a given that they would in this case. Even if shareholders do apply pressure, that's a choice made by specific shareholders or their representatives - people, in either case. Let's identify those people and ask them to explain their choices. Again...

Third Party Discount Tickets in 2020

I'll check Undercover Tourist, but I think most third-party sellers aren't selling 2020 tickets. Disney doesn't need to discount, because they think they can hit capacity.

Just this morning I've invented two new things that also provide capital. I call them "banks" and "bonds". Do you think they'll be useful?

Because we're in a pandemic, Disney hired those employees and shares a responsibility for their welfare, those employees are unlikely to find comparable jobs soon, and Disney's got the means to help. You're right, for the first half of the year. They should continue to do that for another four...

Do you ... do you have any evidence at all that shows shareholders would sell? Because it's easy to find studies that show a positive correlation between charitable giving and shareholder value. [Cite Cite Cite]. There's this implicit assumption in the US that "it has to be this way" or that...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Disney's market cap as of this morning is just under $229 billion. It pays an annual dividend of $3B to its shareholders. Disney has nearly unlimited means to keep those 28,000 CMs on payroll for at least a year. For example, Disney could've cut its dividend by 33% - just this once - and...

Iger's compensation was $45,550,528 in 2019. There are 2,040 work hours in a standard year. Iger's compensation works out to $22,333 per hour. The US median wage in 2019 was around $40K. Granted, these were part-time CMs, so they made less. But an hour and 50 minutes of Iger's 2019 salary...

The obligation is to act in the best interest of the shareholders. "Best interest" doesn't mean only money. SCOTUS ruled on this with the Hobby Lobby case in 2015. Also, if the top 5 executives gave up their 2019 salaries, it works out to around $3,000 per CM.

News Walt Disney World theme parks increase capacity but see longer waits and less physical distancing

It's been noted elsewhere on these boards that folks using the DAS service, VIP tours, and Club 33 members all have FastPass access to the attractions.

My guess is the MK capacity limit right now is not above 25,000 people. It may be closer to 20,000. I don't think the Studios' limit is above 15,000. It may be closer to 13,000.

That number has been increasing. For what it's worth, we're showing the daily ratio of actual wait times to posted wait times, to get a better sense of how long the lines are. And we've counted each ride's throughput, so we know the current hourly capacity.
