Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

Well said, I think you're right. I don't think toxic behavior is acceptable. I was more trying to communicate a way to deal with it that works tolerably for me. Buuuuttt..... Earlier, I deleted a long diatribe about how it would have been for me as a teen if all my stupid behavior had been...

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

I was a Trekkie in the 80's-90's, WAY before it was cool. Coolish. Before comic cons. Before Bronies. Before all of the eccentric acceptance we have nowadays. Society viewed Trekkies as freaks. I never cared one bit. Call it thick skin, call it being Gen X. Whatever it was, I am sure almost...

Distinction between "theme park enthusiast" and "Disney Adult"

This! This right here. You said it perfectly, but I am compelled to repeat it..... If I am participating in ANY type of leisure pursuit, I adamantly don't want any annoyances (esp politics or agendas) brought to my attention. I understand that I live in the real world, and we cannot all have...

    Power

Since this has gone off the rails a bit, I would also add my University had its own geothermal power plant. Also, I have not once, ever, thought of myself as hanging out in my mom's ovaries. Until just now. 😝

    2025 was an awful year

This is the "Glass just gets bigger" theory of trickle-down. ...which I believe is true to a degree.

    2025 was an awful year

You might be able to get a 1M+ views video on a YouTube channel with this topic. I'd absolutely tune in for the deets.

    2025 was an awful year

That is a pretty good strategy. Most people fall for it. To be fair, it is a strategy that pre-dates Kohl's.

Older Adults are [were] the Key to Disney's Success

There are always exceptions. I am happy your grandparents are good with tech. Most are not. I think the OP is mostly referring to the rule, and not the exception. In my observations, most 86-year-olds are absolutely not fond of smartphones or the idea of them being mandatory for some endeavors...

What physical piece of WDW history would you want to own?

So many have said it, but I still want a Nautilus sub. I'd modify it just enough to be able to take it out to the lake. Can you imagine the spectacle? Boomers and Gen X'ers would be lined up for a ride. Everyone else would just think it looks like a crackhead boat.

American Heartland theme park (Oklahoma 2026)

Yea, that Dallas park is going to be pretty close to my house. It will be popular, but it won't compete that much with Disney. Even less than Six Flags.

Hmmm...wonder if this story is totally factual or not? if it is, must be a wonderful time to visit Disney World with shorter wait times right now!

Correct me if you think I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that is what it was when I was a kid back in the 70's and 80's. You went once, like a childhood pilgrimage, and you were happy if you got that. I went twice in 20 years. That's it. ....and it was magical! :p As a wise old adult...

When young families are spending every single extra dime they have on housing..... good luck with luxury vacations. Having young adult children, I can tell you that this for absolute sure, is ravaging young folks financially. ...yea yea... I know... don't live where housing is expensive. It...

Kindle Lifehack! :) I picked up a Steam Deck (powerful handheld game system) about 18 months ago. Airports, buses, taxis, anything with a 'sit and wait' situation has bothered me not since. I'm not quite sure I could lug it around at WDW tho. 🤔 Ironically, or is it coincidentally, one of...

    Beware of hitch hiking... illnesses

I think science will support that those of us who work with the general public have stronger immune systems than those who don't. Now, I didn't say we don't get sick more, lol, but when we do, it is not nearly as bad.
