Hey, they had been running for 30 years at that point... imagine the appetite they must've built up! Knowing that there is a turntable back there going unused makes me sad. That corner always did feel weirdly empty to me.

Wow! Thank you for sharing this. It seems this spark effect is on a much smaller scale than what was once used in Paris' Space Mountain. It leads me to believe it was only really meant to be seen on-ride. Also, the link doesn't seem to work for me anymore, did the video get taken down?

How many pirate turntables were there when Disneyland's Pirates ride opened in 1967? Currently, there are four operating, but I know at least in the early 90s there were five. The reason I am hesitant to believe there were five from the beginning is because in the TV special, "From the Pirates...

Are there more videos online showing the spark effect? I've only ever heard talk of it until now. I've even seen this video before and didn't notice the sparks.
