It seems like Connie might have always had an expiration date, perhaps for legal reasons regarding the actress’s’ likeness. The Constance actress had this on her now-defunct blog back in 2007:
“Her image will appear for approximately the next twenty years as a young woman from the late 19th...
I’m enjoying the new bride, and I definitely think it’s still obvious she is a bride with all the mis en scène. I just don’t think the dress looks 19th century (to be fair, Connie is dressed for the 1900s). The older brides, especially the looming, billowing ones from the 90s read a lot more...
I was never a fan of the Constance effect, the projection was flat at worst and misaligned at best. I did enjoy the Black Widow bride storyline though. I know a lot of people have their reservations about it, but it was playing off a frequent trope in gothic literature, which I always enjoy...
This painting is very intriguing to me. Who is she intended to be? Aesthetically, it lifts a lot from mid-century pulp novel/comics/films, especially with the vampy eyebrows, 40s rolled hairstyle, and eyeliner. The painting of Leota at Memento Mori attempts to be a lot more 19th century...
OKAY two more thoughts. Has anyone noticed that it appears there are multiple new tracks? It sounds like the music progresses from area to area. There’s the New Orleans honky-tonk type sound in the front lawn, then the version with chimes in the “Leota” section, and finally a version with...
The actual gazing balls/garden globes of the late 19th century were pretty much exclusively silver in color. Personally, I would have liked a slightly patina-d silver over the bright colors we got.
They're a little on-the-nose but I think they're tastefully done. The paintings are pretty derivative though. I do like that they kept the Winchester Mansion inspired stained glass window!
Just on principle, I would prefer no or more subtle music for the queue. But I do really enjoy what I can hear of this track. It’s very New Orleans, very honky-tonk.
This is incredibly nitpicky, but the window in the gable has such delicate gothic revival/folk Victorian details it makes me wish the building didn’t have those thick, vaguely Craftsmen eaves and braces. There isn’t really any historical precedent for it, while the mansion itself is a close...
To be fair, the closing of the VOID VR attractions in the Disney Parks is a whole interconnected rabbit hole that involves stolen tombstones, parasocial relationships, hushed workplace incidents, an overeager CEO, and the closure of a theme park in Utah. There are multiple 3+ hour videos...
It sounds like the maintenance/storage barn for the trolleys is being absorbed into the Avenger’s Campus expansion. I’m going to miss the great kinetic energy. It was a nice place to sit on a busy day even if the route was pretty short.
Just wanted to create a thread to discuss the various Dungeons attractions owned by Merlin Entertainment! These include The London Dungeon, Shanghai Dungeon, the now-defunct San Francisco Dungeon, and many more. I think they’re very interesting themed experiences that blend theater with...
