First Time DLP Trip Report - Not What I Expected!

Depends how you define good show. I'm a pyro aficionado; Paris doesn't come close for me.

First Time DLP Trip Report - Not What I Expected!

Disappointing read, they're suggesting 1.4g (hazard type 4), which is the lower end of consumer fireworks; where 1.3g are higher end consumer fireworks and display shells with higher flash powder content. I guess the only place I'm seeing a good show remains MK or Epcot

First Time DLP Trip Report - Not What I Expected!

Where is this documented/quoted? Would like to read more on it - in general firework laws here are much looser than the US and France, and are legal to use 365 days a year until midnight. I guess this is part of their planning permit, but I've not read anything on it in the widely available...

New to Disney have a resort question.

Generally you'll be looking at a 2 bedroom villa, or grand villa (sleeps 12) at a resort like Saratoga Springs - these are bookable at 11 months out due to being DVC resorts, and are held primarily for points/contract owners to get first choice. Try again towards the end of January when rooms...

EPCOT Remy's Ratatouille Adventure to transition to 2D with brief refurbishment in November 2025

Like I said, Dolby 3D which uses colour filters as opposed to generic passive polarisation and are marginally more expensive at scale. Nothing special going on here. Just different commercially available 3D.

EPCOT Remy's Ratatouille Adventure to transition to 2D with brief refurbishment in November 2025

Yeah, like I said in my last post, Dolby 3D - which uses colour filters in the glasses instead basic polarization lenses (used by 3D shows). Nothing special about it, commercially available for years. Only marginally more expensive than polarization at scale.

EPCOT Remy's Ratatouille Adventure to transition to 2D with brief refurbishment in November 2025

It's definitely both. Of course Disney are cost (and top/bottom line) focused, it was likely knowing there wouldn't be backlash (and beneficial to some) that pushed it over the edge. If it was purely cost driven, we should expect to see other attractions follow suit. Having rid the one in...

EPCOT Remy's Ratatouille Adventure to transition to 2D with brief refurbishment in November 2025

If it was primarily cost driven then announcements for Flight of Passage and a reversal to old school Star Tours should quickly follow. Though not the only source of cost, the cost of 3D glasses that Disney uses is negligible... depending on the attraction. Attractions that use proprietary 3D...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I can't be the only one irrationally (given it's irrational, I guess I could be the only one) triggered by the amount of "Genie+ sold out today!" news articles on wdwmagic's front page. When does it stop being news that Genie+ is selling out? I'll see myself out.

Is this the new standard and am I the only one who sees it?

... She was standing behind the register to checkout peoples items? She ultimately hung up the phone and started checking peoples items out. She likely did have a tag on, but it was probably hidden behind her coat. Either way, it was out of view.

I never said a CM was yawning. That was someone else. Yawning is normal and usually uncontrollable. Yes they can be stifled, but I have no problem with a CM yawning. Here's the thing - you're wrong. You can't guarantee anything. I've seen CMs excessively using phones not in cases while on...

Is this the new standard and am I the only one who sees it?

Yep, I've done DLP twice - wouldn't visit there again either, service was truly horrific. Near the Pirate of the Caribbean ride, there's a bunch of caves you can walk through - in one of the corners just outside, there's 20-30 cigarette butts, I let a CM know for 3 consecutive days, on my fourth...

Is this the new standard and am I the only one who sees it?

Obviously not. The problem is these issues are now prolific. We've all had the odd complaint about a CM who wasn't magical for whatever reason. I've often heard people joke that those who work in Universal Parks just didn't make the cut for Disney -- now they just appear to be on par with each...

Is this the new standard and am I the only one who sees it?

I don't disagree with any of your post (only quoted a little to keep it brief), if I worked at Disney on minimum wage, I think I'd feel much the same way. However, this doesn't detract from the expectations that Disney has given us, and as consumers paying a lot of money, we expect their cast...

Is this the new standard and am I the only one who sees it?

That has been my experience this trip. Granted, I've spent more time at Disney parks than Universal parks, so I've had more opportunity to see things go wrong at Disney -- but I've seen things go wrong there that I've never seen in previous trips, that's why the shock factor, for me at least. I...
