News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Northern Virginia. We are about 50/50 mask free in outdoor group settings, but everyone wears them going into stores, restaurants, and other businesses. Schools still require students to wear them full time, so that probably adds to the normalcy factor.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Just home from the grocery store. Still 100% mask usage here, even though mask mandates are long gone, the stores merely "encourage masks for the unvaccinated," and our local vaccination rates are soaring. It's part of our common experience.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

While mask mandates may be dropping away, many places are far from being mask-free zones. Here in Virginia, most businesses still require them, and even places that have relaxed standards to "masks encouraged for the unvaccinated" still see most patrons masked up. Vaccine rates are high here...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

So interesting to see the different perspectives. Here in Northern Virginia, all mitigations, including mask mandates, have ended for vaccinated individuals. Our case rates are extremely low. And our population is highly vaccinated. Yet, I have not yet seen ANYONE in any store without a mask...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

My parents (who would live west of I35 if it continued that far south) got their shots as soon as possible. So did all of their contemporaries in small town, Texas. My sister and her husband were at the forefront of the next vaccine wave in Austin. Both sets of folks continued mitigation...

FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

My family was also well-versed in FP+ tricks and lore. Don’t forget breaking your group into teams of 1 or 2 and searching for overlapping windows so that everyone could ride together. Ah, good times.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

My daughter (13) got her first Pfizer shot this afternoon at a hopping county-run vaccine clinic for teens. They were pumping shots into 12-17 year old arms faster than teenagers devour Chick Fil A nuggets. Interestingly, they also offered shots to all the parents and guardians as we signed in...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

My 13yo is getting her first shot Sunday afternoon. She's in an (outdoor) theater show this weekend, and has a high school entrance exam on Saturday, June 5, so we arranged her doses to avoid any potential side effects getting in the way. These kids and their social schedules! But at least she...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Our guidelines here say that a "big crowd" is one where you are generally stationary, cannot maintain distancing, and are near the same people for an extended period of time. I'm not sure that walking through a crowded area would satisfy those criteria, but I would personally would be prepared...

Agree. My state (Virginia) still has many restrictions in place, but no outdoor masks unless you are in a big crowd. I suspect that's the general rule most people follow these days wherever they are.

Covid Vaccine Updates and General Discussion About Vaccines

Virginia has not yet shifted eligible ages downward. Watching closely.

Yes, their trials are just further behind Pfizer's in time.

I shared both of my post-dose pics on my Twitter feed. Grateful for a means to end the pandemic. Happy to do my part for my community.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Thank you for this insight. It explains precisely why I, as a fully vaccinated person, choose to surround myself with other fully vaccinated people. And why I am counting the days until my 13 year old can get her first shot. The more we can all stack the deck(s) in our favor, the better chance...
