Yeah, there’s a very cynical vibe about anything new Disney does. It looks like it’s going to be extremely nice to me. I stayed at Pixar Place at DL and it’s just a pretty normal and old hotel with some heavy theming around Pixar but I had a great experience.
This resort looks incredible.
Well it’s the same ride system… so I imagine it won’t be that hard to do. They have multiple blueprints to base it off of and they can take advantage of more up to date special effects.
Will it be as good? I think it will. But it’ll be different.
I’ve been riding both for 20 years and I don’t get the big love for Dinosaur. It feels like an empty warehouse with some potted plants set near the track and some not all that impressive animatronics. They were much better 20 years ago but still… you ride Indy one time and the production...
Hey I had a great idea. What if they build a River around the land!? Maybe call it River Styx? Or have Captain Hooks ship sail around it? Yeah!! Solved the problem with removing ROA right there!
Animators and engineers do have to do some work studying how things work in the real world to translate them into animated features or entire giant lands in an amusement park filled with of buildings. In this instance imagineers are as much artists as engineers too.
I’m not sure why this seems...
And my comment was about the construction and how I think it looks terrible right now and will look terrible in the MK for the next 5 years. That is on topic, no?
Your reply earlier trying to mock or make fun of my comment and push me to expand on it is the only reason I mentioned ROA at all...
Those things are absent because of budget cuts not because they didn’t think about it.
Also… (not directed at anyone in particular) it’s way off base to complain about the imagineers doing research for creative inspiration. That is exactly what they should be doing.
No, I say that looking at the loss of the ROA, a beautiful body of water lining the shores of these lands and a waterfront to the Haunted Mansion which is gone and will be surrounded by construction for half a decade. That looks terrible and it is.
I believe they’ll put as much effort into this design as Galaxy’s Edge. Which is exciting because it’ll be for classic Disney animated characters - which has a much more magical feel to me.
I actually had to consult my making of Galaxy’s Edge book because you made me doubt my memory. And you’re right. Initial blue sky phase started in April 2014, project was codenamed Delos.
The research trips, have a design document dated Oct/Sep 2015, the year they announced the project...
They obviously aren’t that far into designing the land if they’re only just now completing field research for architectural inspiration. Galaxy’s edge was at this stage before they announced it, more like 2013.
By 2015 when they announced it they had figured out the lands design, story, etc...
Alright you guys have convinced me it probably doesn’t make sense to do a 5th gate. Yet, at least. Villains will add some capacity to with the additional footprint. Maybe by what 10,000 a day?
