Does anyone know why the tumble monkeys and aerialists are cut? Like, I'm not sure what that has to do with COVID and I'm concerned that this is another Disney-cheapening-things cut and FOLK is ridiculously important to me for specific reasons.

It could very likely just be due to backstage space / dressing room space.

Easier to cut the plug and play acts and add those back later.

The aerialists are not cut. They are still in the show so there is no savings to Disney. They just aren’t flying because the flying routine requires them to touch each other and be in close proximity.

The monkeys were cut for similar reasons. You can’t climb on each other and stand on each other’s shoulders while remaining six feet apart.

Hopefully this makes you feel better....it didn't fell Cheap/too small/short on stream..it was Wonderful!!!!!!! it was the TDO we knew before COVID!

Also, I believe this is the first Stage Show without masks in Orlando? I know SeaWorld had Performers with Masks for Christmas 2020. Not starting the Mask talk, just asking a question.

While im not sure how Disney does it at AK, on a Broadway show there is usually a specialist crew member in charge of safety for the rig system/flying. Even if the cast members are still there, you wouldn’t need that particular expertise in a unionized crew member. Saves costs.

Most people here seem to disagree with my budget cut comment, which is fine, but it’s pretty clear to me as someone who has seen financials for Broadway shows that this show is slightly cheaper to run for numerous reasons. All good though. I’m glad the show is back and keeps its soul. It’s still fun to watch. Seems like they balanced safety with saving money.

In an ideal world: The aerial routine could have been modified so that it was just one person in the sky, like many cirque shows, to avoid hand holding. Perhaps the other dancer could be below her to simulate partnership.

The monkeys could have been minimized but present and done more solo or duo acts on the large platform (former gymnast here and I loved that part.)

I expected much worse though. Pretty happy with this. The real question is will the normal version return in the future or will they eventually become the permanent version.

Finally someone understands the budget cut ideology behind shows like this. There's easily work arounds for stuff like this.

I remember arguing my butt off in regard to Indiana Jones but eventually gave up because it's "obviously" covid and only covid.

Things can be adjusted, just like the acts in this show, if Disney actually wanted to try/use their noggins/put forth a LITTLE effort.
