"It was a dark hot day in September, and the clocks were striking thirteen. @mickeyfan5534, his neck stretched out far in an effort to escape the scorching heat, slipped quickly through the glass doors of the Imagineer forum, though not quickly enough to prevent a swirl of pixie dust from entering along with him."
That's right folks! As one door closes, another one opens! But not without some changes. Team TMNT is out, Team Trademark™ is in. @TheOriginalTiki and I will continue to judge the fine members of our community in a new competition. 1986 is going to be a smaller competition, but one that will be just as creatively stimulating as So, You Want to be An Imagineer and Sorcerer's Apprentice. If you haven't figured out from the name, 1986 is inspired by Big Brother. And we seek to take that inspiration and make a better season of Big Brother than All Stars. On top of that, we'll be taking 1986 beyond even Sorcerer's Apprentice in terms of story with a fully voice-acted storyline unfolding through the rounds.
What to Expect
Big Brother-Inspired Gameplay
Competitors will be in a single house. Each week, two prompts will be given. First: The Head of Household. The household will work as a team, but one will be picked by the Judges to be the winner of this round. The winner will be given the role of Head of Household and nominate two contestants for eviction. That brings us to the second half of the round, The Power of Veto, which will always be related to the Head of Household prompt. Only six contestants will play this round: Head of Household, the two contestants up for eviction, and three contestants chosen via Random.org. All six will produce their own project for the prompt and the winner will receive the power to totally change the eviction nominations if they wish. That brings us to the final section of the round: each houseguest will choose who to evicted. The contestant with the most votes will be evicted from the house and eliminated from the competition.
No contestant can win Head of Household in consecutive rounds.
Creating A New Resort
A new resort? Yes! This competition is about building your own resort. Each round, the competitors will add a new piece to their resort, whether that be an entirely original land for their Castle Park, a grand hotel for guests to stay in, a new take on an entertainment district, or anything else Team Trademark™ thinks of. Each Head of Household prompt will see the competitors collaborating to begin this resort, but the Power of Veto prompts are the chosen six's chance to make their personal mark on the house's project. What will this resort look like? you may ask. Well, no Disney resort is complete without a Castle Park, of course, but you'll also be working on a second gate, hotels, shopping and dining, and more.
This Sounds Awesome! I Want to Sign Up!
Hold your horses! We all want a bit of a rest after the grand finale of So, You Want To Be An Imagineer. Sign-ups for 1986 will begin September 20 with a start date to be announced later.
@TheOriginalTiki and I are extremely excited about this new competition and we hope you are as well.
Remember, Team Trademark™ is watching.
