Once upon a time, deep in the San Fernando Valley, a talent agent lived in a shining manor with a 700-pound Dumbo from Disneyland suspended from his living room ceiling.

Dumbo once made the man and his young son very happy. But now the son was grown and the man was alone in the house, his empty nest feeling all the more empty thanks to the 12-foot-wide, 5-foot-long flying elephant. But that was not all. A 48-foot-long animatronic sea serpent from Disneyland’s original Submarine Voyage sunbathed by the swimming pool, and an animatronic parrot named Jose from Disneyland’s Enchanted Tiki Room held court in his son’s bedroom, which had been decorated to resemble the original, complete with bamboo walls and thatched carpeting.<<

The whole story, along with some great photos at the link.

I was there earlier today... What an absolute bonkers collection this guy has. If you can get to Sherman Oaks and see it, I highly recommend it. I walked right in today without waiting in line, but when I tried over the weekend there was a wait to get into the building. Just an FYI.

The thing that bothers me is that, with Kraft's management/agent role, clearly he had/has some pretty good connections high up within Disney to score a lot of this stuff -- and now he's turning around and selling it for a profit. I know an 'undisclosed' portion is going to charity...but I don't know. I'd probably not be too thrilled if I was among those who helped him get his hands on these things.

Ok guys I can’t compete with the likes of Jeff Bezos, Stamos and NPH. Let’s put a pool together and buy something. I’m thinking one or all of the HM portraits and/ or Mr. Toads ride vehicle? What do you say?

I was there last week for the Tony Baxter Podcast: The Ride recording. What an amazing exhibit!

Before the recording, Kraft was walking around talking about his collection and sharing stories. Got to listen to him talk about acquiring Jose, which he then turned on to perform.

Obviously, many of the items being sold that were available in the park as souvenirs can be found for much less on Ebay (though maybe in not as good condition) but some of the stuff there was amazing.

As someone who was born in '97- I wasn't around to see the Peoplemover, Skyway, have no memory of the Rocket Rods and early Space Mountain vehicles- so it was surreal seeing the vehicles in person.

Not to mention seeing Haunted Mansion portraits that, according to the listing, were in the mansion in '69. Which had me more excited then being in the real Stretching Room. I just hope one collector buys all four, since the set really should be kept together.

Yeah... no chance those are from '69. That stuff really bugs me, because it would not take much research at all to realize those 100% are not Marc Davis designs. Those are the Clem Hall versions that came later on. I feel like some of the auction descriptions are a bit misleading, which is a bummer when you're dealing with very high ticket items like these that some uneducated people with deep pockets may be bidding on. I'm sure it's not intentional, but still would be nice to see that buttoned up a bit more.

As below, from Long-Forgotten blog: (https://longforgottenhauntedmansion.blogspot.com/2011/03/many-faces-ofthe-other-stretching.html)
From Left to Right - (1) Marc Davis's original sketch, (2) a Davis-style canvas actually used in the attraction during the first year or two, (3) Clem Hall's version ca 1982, and (4) the current DL version.

Huuuuge difference between Marc's original style in the early years of Mansion and the Clem Hall redesign which is what today's versions are based on.

If you watch the 1970 Haunted Mansion special w/ the Osmond's, you can clearly see Marc's designs still being used in that as well.

As a huge fan of the Long Forgotten Blog (where I'm assuming you got some of those photos from), and since I've read the post on the portraits- I should have been smart enough to check myself. Thanks for doing the research, and as you said, it's a shame the auction house didn't.

I know its sacrilege but I prefer the more recent versions of her face than the Marc Davis version.

Yep -- I added the link for those of you who want to take a look at the post as it's a great one! I pulled the Osmond screenshot from my personal old Disney TV special nerd folder though. :)
