What attractions to avoid for larger people?

Hello! So I was talking with my friend that I'm taking to Disney World in August... And she asked me to avoid any rides that she would potentially be embarrassed about having to be asked to leave the ride due to restraints not clicking/her being too large. Ect. She told me it was okay to post this. So could I get a list of attractions that we should avoid that "walk of shame?" or it being too uncomfortable. It'll be her first trip to Disney and we do want it to be magical!! :) Thank you!

I think your friend will be fine. Seven Dwarfs is tight, but I've read that larger people do manage it okay. I can't speak for Avatar because I couldn't get a fastpass for it (over the course of a long trip! but I digress) but again, previous threads about it indicate it's more about body shape than weight. Apparently there is a test model in the line-up that allows one to see if he/she will be allowed to ride.

Other than that nothing comes to mind. I found this link in case it is helpful:

I read an article about a lady having to leave FOP because of her weight, and several more behind her as well.

There were issues on FoP when it was opening. However it seems like CM's have gotten better about the tricks and understanding the ride system better in getting people to lock in in the past few months. There's also a test chair in the front. I believe a CM is there to assist.

When it was first opened, FoP had issues with the restraints that lock onto the calves/ankles. So the issue was more centered around big legs than big bodies. The restraints have since been modified to be more accommodating and there are far fewer issues now from my understanding. I would recommend she try the test seat outside.

Overall, though, Disney is pretty size friendly. I wouldn't imagine she will run into too many issues.

Your friend will be fine! Lots of folks much larger than her can do everything including FOP, Mine Train, Teacups etc etc. I’m fluffier these days than my picture on here and still have no issues. Also a tip FOP the test seat outside many that don’t fit the test seat fit the actual ride seat inside! So don’t go by Just that. :)

My BFF was quite a bit fluffier than your friend when we went together years ago. She had no issues riding anything. I've seen guests a lot larger manage to ride everything that I rode (although I can't imagine women with very large busts and men who are line-backer size are all that comfortable on some rides). My SiL is a big girl, larger than your friend and rode anything she wanted with us a year ago. FoP was not open then so no thoughts on that. She did ride every other ride people have previously mentioned. She should be fine. Have Fun!

Agreed on Universal being more of a problem especially if you have broad shoulders more so than girth around your midsection.

Your friend is a big girl..............but won't be the biggest at the park. She has girth, but not a lot of height by the looks of it. I don't think it will be an issue here. I'll tell you why. I am 6'2" 300lbs. No kidding. I am built like a linebacker but with a bigger gut. I am big everywhere. Broad shoulders, thick legs, big arms, and am tall........etc. Of all the years I have gone to Disney I have never had a problem on a single ride. We just went to the Magic Kingdom last month. I had no issues with anything. I rode on Splash Mountain and no issues. Not even "just barely" getting in either. I was comfortable.

In the past at a size not much different than now I can only think of a couple rides that were snug but still not in danger of being unable to buckle in. Space Mountain is one of them, but I was fine. Actually my knees hitting the back of the seat were more the issue, so basically that came down to height. The other was the Matterhorn at Disneyland, same issue, knees. I was still fine on them.

Last month we went with our kids and I rode Dumbo with one of our kids. Plenty of space. Disney is not like other theme parks. Their rides are for everyone. I've been in that situation before where I have been kicked off a rollercoaster because I couldn't click in. Both times it was Cedar Point. I laughed at it. My friend told me jokingly I'd better go on a week long salad diet before I come here again. So I'll get the odd rollercoaster with my size, but never an issue at Disney or Universal. Tell her she'll be fine and won't have to endure the walk of shame.

She may have a problem with Pooh. I am fit, but very short and wide-hipped, and I always have to turn sideways to exit as my hips hit at the doorway level.

Make sure she pushes the lap bars as far as possible when exiting the ride, and purses and shopping bags tend to exacerbate the process.
