Flight of Passenge problems

My favorite response I have ever seen on line cutting was a little boy about 5 or 6 and this woman and her teenage son and toddler daughter were trying to cut the line, when confronted she said "Oh were not cutting were up there with my husband and daughter", and the little boy looks at her and says "no they are in line you are back here trying to cut".
Aaaaand that's when I thank the child for their honesty and block their path. I'll be clearer and follow up from my previous post and say that rejoining the line is more tolerable for me when I see the family and small child leave. Its when I have been standing in line for say 30 minutes and out of nowhere a family says they were already in line.

These are great responses. I think DE needs to come up with a better system. It's not good optics for WDW to see people arguing/fighting due to people trying to cut in line.
Exactly but the mouse is too worried about money and we don't want to upset paying guests (and I get that) but I wish they would at least do a little fix the problem.

The more this happens (people butting in line) the bigger the problem will become. More incidents will happen, and WDW will begin to to receive negative reviews.
I am not sure they would like that.

Wait, can I get a pass for my kid having IBS?
That would be awesome!!lol.

On a serious note, these type of passes are going too far, at all parks. I hope that someone with bladder issues can not get one. Especially at WDW, you have FREE FP.
What do you mean they are 'going to far'? There are some people with some serious disabilities who are able to do things with help. I would count my lucky stars if I didn't have to wear adult diapers or the like. I also consider myself lucky that I don't have any mobility issues either. They don't get "those types of passes" but it really sucks to tour the parks when you do have mobility issues.

I get some people try to milk things but I'm not cool with poking fun at people with serious health problems. Then again I grew up with a relative with CP and a host of other disabilities and I have some minor issues of my own so I am not quick to just laugh it off.

I don't think as many people who get some type of disability pass, at any park, not just Disney, actually need them.

That's not poking fun. That's an opinion. I don't think ADHD should get you a pass, and I don't think things like bladder disorders should get a pass.

Not everything is an attack on someone. We are still allowed to have opinions without offending or being viewed as an attack on a 'disability' or 'medical issue'... I hope we haven't become that sensitive.

My brother has severe ADHD, my son has IBS.. my parents dealt, and I deal. my grandmother was confined to a wheelchair due to medical reasons- at all times. Out of the 3 family members I just listed - she's the only one who had a valid need for a pass..and Disney gave her one.

Interesting. I never knew that.

On my trips with my grandmother I was a child/tween. She came with our family for quite a few years. That was before the ADA. She received true "front of the line" access on many attractions.

She passed away in 1993, so I don't have experience with the procedure under the ADA.. but I remember hearing that it was heavily abused, so much so that Disney changed their procedure a few years back.

I think it still gets abused, at amusement parks as well. Would be nice if people didn't always try to exploit a system.

I think you don't get what it is like to work with Disability Services or what is a requirement to get DAS. I have never heard anyone with ADHD getting it nor something as minor as IBS (have family with that too).

Confined to a chair does not get you a pass either so not sure how you managed that. They deal with that separately. Honestly your comments make me think you don't understand how it works or who it is for.

Edit I just saw your post. The DAS has changed and is nothing at all like the FOTL pass it was years ago. You cannot easily just get it now, trust me on that. Also going with wheels is a PITA now. While I wish she could go again, it was hard work to take her. Now she can no longer even feed herself, it's out. She was disabled since birth and now it's just too much to travel with her at all since she needs round the clock nursing care.

The new system makes you wait just in alternative ways.

The only reason I said IBS was because of the bladder comments earlier as justification to enter a ride queue after the rest of their party has been waiting for a while.
Yes, we have had to get out of a line..food, ride, etc.. I'm the only adult with my child, so no one can save our place. We also missed the ME on our last trip due to an 'emergency' restroom visit. We (literally) ran back out just as the ME was pulling away. So, I paid $100 (including tip) for an Uber. As @Bocabear stated earlier things like bladder issues stink.. but, "it's the hand you were dealt". It doesn't give people special access or excuses. You deal with it.

What is the requirement for DAS? How much do you have to prove if you claim that you have a disability? And why was it changed a few years ago, was that not due to abuse?

But yes, in the 80s/early 90s it was front of the line, sometimes separate entrance on a few attractions for people in a wheelchair.

Every person with these kind of medical issues knows their limitations. If they know they cannot stand in line for more than an hour without having to use the restroom then they shouldn't get in line. You can't blame park management for your personal medical problems.

When I said real bladder issues, I was speaking of diseases, not just needing to go. I have an acquaintance who lives a pretty poor life due to a disease and she fought to get the DAS. Not my place to share her details, but it is beyond just a little problem or even bad IBS.

Per law they cannot ask for proof of disability, but they have strict rules on who gets it. If it can be fixed by mobility devices you are out. If it is a legitimate issue with lines (autism, PTSD, etc) they will give it. I've been on the phone and email with Disability Services and while their requirements on the site are vague, they really help you find out the best options for your needs. Can you tell I'm the planner and make all the calls?

The deal now is that you do have to wait 2 hours to get on FoP if that is what you want to ride, you just don't have to wait it in line. You also can only have a max of 6 using it and you can only do one at a time. It is linked to the bamd and the one with the disability has to ride or they won't allow others to do it. Guest services grills pretty severely to weed out fakers.

They got rid of the old way because people were using it and taking families on tours for a fee. So they made it fair by making all people wait the posted time to do the ride. It's really not a perk as much as a godsend for those who need it..

As an FYI for ME you likely could have just taken the next bus. They often run them ever 20 mins or so, but ask CMs just in case you miss it.

Sorry for the thread drift...

I've been trying to think of recent line cutters but can't. Some rude and pushy people did nearly knock others over to get ahead on Test Track. A little happy that it broke down with them in it (so were we though).

... but the point is if you have left the line you have left the line, and is it fair to everyone in line to allow line jumping just because you kid needs to go to the bathroom every hour?
You seem to forget that they've already been in line, waiting patiently, and will return to the same place in line. It's zero sum to you. The ones that cause the problems are the place-holders and the never-beens who keep trying to scoot ahead because apparently their time is more valuable than yours.

This thread is a joke. You want to cry and whine because a few people skipped ahead of you? Oh boo hoo, life is just so unfair, boo boo. Gimme a break. Be thankful you don't have any real problems.

This one takes the cake - this woman (on the left), completely jumped in on my daughter's time with the Great Goofini! There is my daughter, on the right - trying to have her time which we stood on line and waited for. This woman just barged right in and posed with Goofy, got her friend to take her picture and walked off. The CM was telling her she was not allowed to jump line, but it was too late.

Omg. Sorry!!! The same thing happened to us with the Jawas, but it was a mother shoving her kid to the Jawa..not the adult posing.
People are so rude.

Hopefully you got some photos of your daughter alone with him.
