MNSSHP ADVICE

This is our first time going to MNSSHP. We have tickets for a Tuesday in Oct. We also decided to get a res at Ohana' for 5:00 that day. The party starts at 7:00, we don't have park tickets for that day. When do they let MNSSHP ticket holders in? Is it going to be an issue with a 5:00 dinner and still being on time for the start of the party? Should we blow off the dinner and get to MK earlier than 7:00? Any advice is most appreciated.
Thanks!

Yup, they always start letting people with party tickets in at 4:00. They give you a paper wristband, which you'll be required to show at different stops in the park.

There is a lot to do at MNSSHP, so decide ahead of time exactly what you want to do. I skip the Trick-or-Treating and just do the parade (usually I watch both - I love it!), see the barbershop quartet, fireworks, villain show, Haunted Mansion and maybe a couple other rides. You wouldn't think so, but it takes up most of the night!

If you also want to do M&Gs and Trick-orTreating, you might want to do some planning.

I always sit down for dinner and plan it all out. :)

I had heard the music before I ever went to the party and thought it was pretty "meh." But once I went, I bought the CD. It's very catchy in person. :)

I am pretty sure you have to have a park ticket as well...i believe the party is an additional charge. The time that we went, we got our wrist band earlier in the day and were in the park, they never kicked us out or anything, just made the people without wrist bands leave...but its been a while so it may have changed. @Master Yoda, could probably help out.

You just need the party ticket to get in for the party. If you want to get in before 4:00 then you need a park ticket.

We always have bought one less day on our tickets and bought a party ticket instead of one day of our trip.

If you've done 'Ohana before, I would skip it. The last two years we've gotten there early and rode what we wanted to ride before seven so we could concentrate on the parade's, M&G's, and Trick or Treating. We had ap's so we would get there around 2 or 3. The crowds didn't pick up until around 5:30 or 6:00.

We went last year and Had such a great Time. We skipped the trick or treating in the parks so we would have more time for The Parades, fireworks, villians.

The nice cast members at the trick or treat staion outside the main gate saw that my kids bags were empty and filled them both over the top with candy!!

Worked out great and We hope to go back and do it again in the next few years!

I have been to 5 or 6 MNSSHP I would skip a sit down dinner that night and eat a late lunch. What are you planning on getting out of the party? The parade is a do not miss, they also have many meet and greets that you can't see during regular park hours. Like jack sparrow and all 7 of the dewarfs are the most popular if you plan on meeting them with the least amount of wait, line up before 7:00. I like to save the trick or treating till late cause they don't run out and you don't have to carry it all around.

A BOO to you! I posted this before and went and dug it up for you...

MNSSHP: luv's Not To Be Missed List... :D

1. Headless Horseman - he rides before the parades and may be the highlight of the night. (Doesn't ride if the ground is wet and not safe for the horse.)

2. The Boo to You parade. Try to get a good seat. By "good", I mean on the curb or at the rope. No one place is much better than any other, IMO. But it's easier and more fun if you can see the Headless Horseman and parade stuff easily.

3. Fireworks. The fireworks themselves aren't all that amazing, but they're fun and the soundtrack is awesome.

4. The Haunted Mansion. The ride is the same, but there is a ghost who will chat with you as you enter the line and the staff are all decked out. Pretty cool.

5. The barbershop quartet. They're dressed for Halloween and sing Halloweeny songs. One of my favorite parts.

6. The Villains Mix n Mingle. I don't go meet the Villains. If you want to do that, be up front and ready to book over to them when they come down. They don't stay long! But the show is good.

There are also trick-or-treating places for kids and adults alike (lines get shorter later in the night), sometimes there are candy trails (the one that begins in Fantasyland and ends by Space Mountain is used more often than not), multiple character meet n greets (e.g. Seven Dwarfs! All together!), dance parties for little kids (or anyone, really) and party-specific stuff to buy, if you want a special souvenir of the event, like a pin or whatever.

Tickets - Your ticket gives you access to everything going on in the MK. The party is a park-wide event and your ticket gives you access to all of it. I don't buy mine until the day of the party because I won't go in the rain. But if you put off buying a ticket until the day of the party, you risk having them sell out. It's a hard choice to make.

Wristbands - they'll give you one when you enter, if you enter around party time. Multiple places where you can pick one up if you've been in the park during the day. You'll need to show your wristband periodically to the wristband police, who set up human blockades to prevent people who didn't pay for the party from being there. They even interrupted us while we were eating once and demanded to see our wristbands.

Maps - there are special park maps, just for the party. It lists the rides and places to eat that are open during the party, shows you where the Trick-or-Treat spots are and has the all-important parade, villain show and fireworks times. They're cure, too. :) Pick one up!

Weather - it can be very hot (especially September or early in October) and it can get cold (especially later in the month).

Costumes - No way to predict temps, so if you have costumes, try to make them adaptable to any temp. Because that's so easy, lol. ;) Adults can dress up, too (but it isn't required. Some do, some don't. Whichever you choose, you feel out of place.) Disney frowns upon and may not let you wear masks that will obscure your vision, so leave those out. It is the only time of year that adults can go to the parks in Disney character costumes and many do. You can get spooky with the costumes, but not too gory.

Although the party begins at 7:00, they usually allow people with just a party ticket into the MK around 4:00.

If you have an AP that gives you free parking, it doesn't cover MNSSHP. So, be sure to get through the toll plaza before 7:00.

If you all are into the horror part of Halloween, check out Halloween Horror Nights at Uni. Tons of fun...but not for children!

Have a great time!!!!

Happy Halloween!

Thanks for the extensive list. I also am going for the first time this year and was wondering about some of the very things you addressed. I read somewhere else there has been a reading of the Headless Horseman story in Liberty Square. Is that still done? And where does his ride begin? Any preferable spots to watch for him from?

Great! Thank you all for the advice. We are really only interested in the party not so much worried about going on any rides. M&G's and the parade will be top priorities as well as the trick or treating I'm sure. I guess our biggest concern was going right around 7 or showing up early. I may rethink our dinner reservation as I don't want to feel rushed and heading in early seems to be a good idea. Thanks again!!

Will they still have the villains since they are having the Villains thing earlier in the month?

Yes, they still do the reading in Liberty Square. At least they did last year. :) The HH begins his ride from the Frontierland part of the park, goes toward the hub and on down Main Street.

Many people think Main Street is the best place to watch parades. I can't really argue with the magicalness, but IMO, anywhere is good as long as you aren't stuck behind people.

I have no insider knowledge into the workings at Disney, but haven't read anything that says the villain show won't be part of MNSSHP.

That other villain thing is a Limited Time Magic thing, I think. Not really related in any way, so I don't see why it would affect MNSSHP.

Before the party actually happens, they'll post info here. Probably maps, too. They always post everything here before I need it.

But, honestly, you could show up for the thing having done no prep, check out the map and have a great time. :)

I love MNSSHP. :)

The ticket will gain you MK entry at 4pm. Don't waste that time at Ohana. Eat a late lunch at a resort restaurant and try to be at MK gate at 4pm. Go do some attractions so that right at 7pm you are in teh park and ready for the Halloween specific events.

If you want to meet the 7 dwarves you need to be in line at LEAST an hour before. It gets really long! We waited about an hour or so but, my DD really wanted to meet them & get a picture with them.
