MK Big Thunder Mountain to receive full retrack

Not at all. BTM is a roller coaster with physical thrills and not a lot outside that engaging your senses. Splash/TBA is a flume ride that is supposed to engage you and tell a story with visuals and sounds more than physical thrills (except the ending, of course).

But the physical thrills are only part of the reason it's a good ride. If it was just the coaster track without all of the surrounding theming it would be one of the weakest attractions at WDW.

I'm not even arguing that it did receive significant upgrades (I actually have no idea what they did beyond installing a new track), I just don't think the eyes closed thing is a good argument for any attraction that offers something more than just the physical thrill.

It will definitely be a different experience when it opens. No steam train passing, no riverboat passing, no cabin on an island in the distance, no river.

I know the train will be back and we will have new scenery one day - but it will definitely be a different experience for now, and later.

Also…. Possums better be swinging!!!!!

That’s what I’m saying. I’m sick and tired of whenever an attraction undergoes a major refurbishment for much needed TLC and upgrades and all people care about is “cLoSeD fOr a YeAr?! WhEn’S iT rEoPeNiNg?!” Goes to show too many people don’t give a crap about enhancements to the ride experience, all they want is to get their precious ride back.

Like I get it - Thunder’s been closed for a year and two months so far while Buzz is also closed and the ROA and TSI are gone. But the fact that it’s getting significant upgrades at all after years of neglect and deferral, in my eyes, is more significant.
Why can't it be important maintenance and also take longer than it should? I am a pixie-duster at my core, but this is a self-inflicted wound.

The fact that they are doing what they are doing what they are doing in Frontierland right now personal opinions aside is really not that great in terms of absorbing capacity at the moment.

There is a reason why Disneyland's version of the attractions that are at both MK and DL tends to be the superior version of the two with some notable exceptions.

How long could they keep it closed and still be hunky dory? 2 years? 3? 4? What’s the difference after all. As long as it’s getting the tender love and care it deserves!
Space Mountain at DL was closed for two and a half years but the end result was well worth it.
