Reportedly Netflix wants WB to get into the theatrical business…. I will believe it when I see it

I know executives care about profits above everything else… but most other studios have some creatives in house that care about the art of film… Not Netflix…. All they seem to care about is content… since we cut the cord…. We have just about every streaming service…,I watch Netflix the least…. Out of the 100+ movies they release each year…. You might get 2 or 3 that are actually decent…. People talk about Disney spend…. Well Netflix produces poop like Rebel Moon and The Electric State for untold amounts of cash…

The market and the consumers have spoken when it comes to theatrical. Back to the Ellison bid…it’s very difficult to do a hostile bid without some backing from the board and it makes it worse when you are constantly p*ssing them off.

We’ll see what happens by December 22nd what the BoD decides, and if it’ll be taken to the shareholders.

This isn’t the Ellison’s first rodeo at hostile takeovers. Go back and look at Larry vs Peoplesoft and see what happens when you have no board backing during a hostile bid from the Ellison’s. If you think Iger’s ego is bad, Larry is 1000x worse. He makes Iger look like a saint.

The Ellisons have never gone up against a company like Netflix. Peoplesoft is a joke next to them.

Since they aren’t buying Netflix your comment here doesn’t make sense. I don’t think they have to worry about it, as they aren’t dealing with Netflix directly. They only have to worry about outbidding them if further bidding is required. And as said before I don’t see money as being an issue.

Larry’s appetite for Hollywood spending is very limited. He fired his daughter when she started losing money.
You’re talking about a man who bought a whole island just for himself. A man whose biography was called “The difference between god and Larry Ellison. *God doesn’t think he is Larry Ellison.” If he wants something he spends on it. This isn’t about money at this point, it’s about legacy and ego. He has enough ego that he’ll continue to spend if it means it solidifies his legacy in Hollywood.

Also last I checked Megan is still CEO and head of Annapurna Pictures.

The PSKY bid relies heavily on foreign capital, which could introduce national security risks that the Netflix bid avoids entirely. Regulatory hurdles could be underestimated.

Larry doesn’t care about Hollywood. He has no legacy in the entertainment business.

His daughter is technically still the CEO but it’s a company that doesn’t really exist anymore.

Foreign capital is all over Hollywood, so I don’t think that is much of a problem. But we’ll see if it goes that far and gets in front of regulators.

You haven’t been paying attention then. The whole reason he has funded his kids is to build that legacy. It’s also the reason he made a cameo in Iron Man 2. He cares more than you think.

Annapurna is still producing movies, this year they produced The Testament of Ann Lee which was distributed by Disney through Searchlight. And next year I Love Boosters which is being distributed by Neon.
