Not just because of the cost, but because it represents an era of entertainment production for the company that, so I've been told by folks at DLE, they reject (for a number of reasons).
IP inclusion feels like the obvious one, what other aspects have they shifted away from

Because it turns into MSEP.

Some things can end… it’s not even that great of a show 😭

Nostalgia is blinding. It’s a good show. I enjoyed it. But it wasn’t great.
I don’t mean to disrespect Wishes but its nostalgia is what makes its great. There is certainly a place for that sort of show, but in terms of effects, it’s a neutered version of HEA at this point.

People aren’t attached to Jiminy Cricket like they were 20 years ago.

A poll on a niche online forum filled with mostly older fans who have nostalgia for Wishes is not necessarily and indicator that most people prefer Wishes. Although I do remember Len Testa showed that Wishes had the highest ratings on touring plans with HEA right behind.
I'm 28 years old.

What was the fireworks show at Disneyland that featured music from the park like the Tiki Room theme?
Remember Dreams Come True. It’s the show I linked. It started with Wishes music but when the genie would come in, that show cuts to Walt’s Opening Speech and then an E-ride in the sky tour, ending with Wishes finale version of When You Wish Upon a Star.

Remember - also a Steve Davidson masterpiece. Julie Andrews hosted it, it featured the Maple Leaf Rag, and had one of my favorite moments ever for the haunted mansion stretching room.

Talk about practically perfect!
Ok.. it’s that one. Remember is the best Disney fireworks show. Let’s get that at WDW.

Truly a love letter to the parks. Those flares for the stretching room felt so imposing as a kid in the middle of the hub, I'll never forget them.

Partly also why I love the Tapestry of Happiness projection show they're doing for the 70th, it's like a mini-RDCT. I'd love to see that fleshed out into a full fireworks show.
