October 2025 Price Increases

But you’re not paying for luxury, you’re paying for convenience (or less hassle). I don’t stay at Yacht, Beach, or Boardwalk because they’re amazing hotels with world class dining and entertainment offerings. I do it because I don’t have to get on a bus to get to Epcot or Studios.
Correct, but I've been priced out. It's just way more than I want to spend. I've stayed at those hotels a number of times when prices were in my range...so no regrets. It's just time to move on.
I feel the same way about DCL. I can't stomach those prices anymore either. I'm looking forward to trying some new ships and different cruise lines.

How did this turn into a 10 page debate on the meaning of the word "luxury"?

The funny thing is we all seem to agree that Disney isn't luxurious! It seems a strange debate to be having.
We’ll have to get Scotland Yard on it…

But in my experience…when it involves price increases in a product that is already losing customers…we find ourselves searching In the dark for “reasons” for it to make sense

Is the Disneyland hotel “luxury”?

Much shorter walk to the gate from
The best western than Disneyland…jus saying

3x the price
No it's not luxury, but it is right in California Adventure. When we stayed there our room was right above Soaring. Like I said you are paying for location. It also wasn't an insane price when we stayed there.

I have the secret “”insider” keys on how hotels are priced in the world of Disney…

Don’t share it with anybody

I have no interest in justifying, or attempting to justify, the increases. I can certainly be accused of being too tolerant of them, or seeing value where I shouldn't, but I have never offered a reason, much less an excuse, for why they're happening (and if I had to give a reason, it would be the self-evident one: they're charging more because they want to increase their profit margins and feel they can get away with it).

Right. Ethics is what forms the basis for regulation of advertising. Unethical practices are not allowed.

I’m still not sure what you want Disney to do. It’s been using the terminology you’re objecting to for as long as I remember.

Who decides when it’s no longer accurate?

There are many unethical companies out there. To me banks are unethical and predatory. They get their hand slapped every now and again. But the day-to-day isn’t really impacted. Nobody is cracking down on their advertising.

Who gets to decide when it’s no longer accurate? We do. And with that we can abstain, temper our expectations, or just outright refuse to accept that it is no longer accurate.

All three of those classifications exist on this forum.

Well that seems obvious to me as well…

But you will see tons of blowback on your opinion in a variety of threads…

But it’s what we do here: ruminate to pass the time and get a little bit of fun.

We see “the parks are mobbed” almost daily when that isn’t a fact…hasn’t been for several years. Often by people who aren’t there to see it…much less able to interpret it…

I’ll never get a lot of the Tendencies

A lot of the blowback here happens because posters don't always read each other's words carefully and/or aren't satisfied with opinions that don't totally align with their own. The present discussion, in which all the participants fundamentally agree that Disney is expensive but not luxurious, is a good example of that.
