The other thing is that no one said that they think people who drink in a theme park are better than people who gamble. Nor did anyone say children have totally free will and are solely responsible for their own actions.

I can only conclude from the lack of foundation for these statements (and utter silliness of the second one) that we are being trolled. I agree with @JD80 that it's not productive to continue.
Chi, you can read Networkpro’s post above - the one that says “And others speak of moral turpitude as if everyone had no free will.” You did, in fact, read it. You liked it. You can also read the several posts, including some you responded to, treating the idea that drinking was morally equivalent to gambling as a mad absurdity. None of these comments have been erased.

I respect you as a poster, but this behavior is beneath you. You know I’m not a troll - you’ve argued on my side of an issue often enough. You have a habit of somehow not seeing inconvenient comments from posters with whom you agree or pretending they say what you want them to say while obsessively policing the comments of those with whom you disagree.

Let’s see if we can get this thread back on track a bit.

We are here today at 2:05. Right of the bat I will tell you to know what you want before you go in. It helps with the time limit. When we stepped in, it felt like we were walking into the middle of a story that had already started unfolding.

We were given a space at the bar. All of the tables were filled, and there was a rowdy long table with someone celebrating their birthday. We had prime seating for viewing Rummy. The entire time we were inside there was never a repeated skit. But everyone was into what was going on: patrons, servers, bartenders. When “A Pirate’s Life” started, the entire place sang along.

The theming is excellent and the atmosphere fit the mood. Our server was one of the bartenders and she was great! I ordered a NA drink and my wife had a cocktail and a wine. These were all enjoyed. We also ordered all three small plates. The griddle cake with corn and poblanos was top notch. We thought the Kracken’s catch was okay to good. My wife loved the Island Provisions - apparently the chimichurri dipping sauce was fantastic. I thought the provisions were just okay.

Overall it was a fun experience. Do I have to do it every single time? No. But it adds variety to your choices which I like. I tried to get some good photos but I only have an iPhone. Enjoy!

I tried Grog Grotto for the first time and found it vastly inferior to the one in DL personally. The pirates bar though is something I could definitely vibe in, I just hope they get a more expansive menu with due time. The barrels ablaze was probably the best drink I had during my whole trip.

As an internet veteran of many decades, when someone makes up an argument no one was having and then spends days/pages railing against it - it's best to ignore the whole thing.

What a weird thread.

It really seems like there are a lot of puritanical(ish) views about this place.

That aside, they do need more non-alcoholic drinks and a few more snack options. Also, would it really kill them to offer at least a drink or two without 2 months worth of your daily intake of sugar?

Generally speaking, they need more mocktails on all the menus across property. I was there for a week and a half in July and my wife doesn't drink alcohol and two of my kids are over 10 and under 21 and using the dining plan there wasn't a good selection of specialty drinks for everyone.

Hopefully they add more - Oga's is up to 7 non-alcoholic options. Even 1 or 2 more here I think would help, especially if they were less sugar / simpler ... I am sure they could do something in-theme that has an unsweetened tea base

It's probably easier to do non-alcoholic drinks when you include things like a soda fountain so you can just pour some syrup in there and BOOM. Also known as what I order every time at Jock Lindsay's.

But they didn't spring for such expensive luxuries.

Having been there now, I would add at least 2 or 3 more NA drinks and 3 more food options. It’s a good start with what they have. Or maybe they change up menu items seasonally.

That to me is the biggest critique. They should have more than 2 non-alcoholic options and I think that is a shortsighted decision - and it isn't philosophical considering they have a bunch more at Oga's which is the same type of concept. I think that there will be a drag on how wide the appeal is if some people don't want to drink and don't find the limited non-alcoholic menu appealing. The last time I went to Oga's, it was with like 5 kids and me and all we did was NA drinks and food and it was great.

Another food option or two wouldn't hurt either but that's less of a concern IMHO.

They have definitely evolved things at Oga's - especially with the food. So hope they do that here. Doesn't mean it needs at total revamp ever year or anything but just every 6 months add a couple things, maybe remove something. Tweak it

It’s very funny that you follow up a comment on the nonexistent “puritanical” attitudes in this thread by opining that you wish the menu at the bar was less alcohol heavy.

The menu is exactly what Disney wants it to be. It wasn’t a mistake, it didn’t just happen, it’s not merely a product of the space available. Disney puts a huge amount of consideration into everything they do in the parks. Beak offers an almost entirely alcoholic menu because Disney feels that benefits them.

Why is it so difficult for so many posters to believe that Disney does what it wants to do?

Bold prediction. Within the next 25 years, you'll be able to get regular cupcakes or "magical" cupcakes in the parks.

I actually think there will be a sharp turnaround on attitudes there once people see studies on the cognitive side effects of “magical” stuff. I think attitudes now that weed is some kind of “all natural, good for you” product are extremely unrealistic. You’d be much better off just sipping one glass of wine, imo.

Recent study shows there's no amount of wine or alcoholic drink that isn't harmful to the body.

The old "two per day is OK" rule is out the window. The liver doesn't need the 'exercise.'

Of course, we're not talking about immediate harm, but long-term life-expectancy and quality-of-life terms.

Of course "natural" isn't necessarily better. Alcohol is natural (in over-ripening fruit). Hemlock and Poison Ivy is natural. Over-drinking water can kill you.
