We've gone year after year to Food and Wine and never saw what you're describing. I'm not saying no one has ever gotten drunk there but I don't think Disney has let it get out of hand at Epcot and I seriously doubt they would allow it at MK.
While I absolutely do not agree that it is an ongoing serious problem I have seen people blitzed out of their mind drunk and starting fights with other people in Epcot. I watched one guy so drunk that he kept arguing with people that just happened to be walking near him and ended up falling down face first and busting his face wide open on the pavement. But those were just a couple of incidents. It is not an ongoing widespread problem.

Any with actual reviews of the food and drinks? I've only seen footage of what the place and food items look like but haven't seen takes on what anything tastes like
Late reply so maybe this has been answered on later pages- the people I work for said that at the media event they only got to try one or two things (I think it was one drink and one food item), I think they're going to talk about it at some point but not sure what the plan on that is, we've just done a POV video. I heard it was good though? I've been busy doing artwork (if anyone is a fan of the D-logo magnets I've designed, we've got many more coming soon!) so I haven't been keeping up on the review side of things, haha.

Also hot take: I know some people (including a certain someone I work for) are very adamant that the parrot should be named "Peg-Leg Pete", but I prefer Rummy. I think it's cuter and also avoids confusion of Disney having like three characters named Peg-Leg Pete lmao.

Thanks! I figured that likely was the case that media wasn't really fully tasting everything (not sure if good sign or bad lol)

I agree with you about the name ... Plus obviously a name connected to "Rum" fits a bar/lounge

But who knows if this works maybe it will serve as a test case for offering drinks and food connected to other rides, maybe even other pirate related rides? Oh wait, kinda like they have been serving alcohol already inside pirates at blue bayou???
If Disney is fine with tying real alcohol to Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion, can we get a new Mile Long Bar replacing Pecos Bill's? Big Al still has his XXX moonshine bottle in the new show, might as well sell souvenir mugs with $18 cocktails in them!

I may or may not have a cocktail list and hypothetical menu for a new Mile Long Bar typed up, haha.

The media event seemed to be more for marketing the inside. They had them come in at 9am on Friday to tour the inside (with lots of media lighting set up which according to TC ruined some of the show lighting since you had set spotlights shining on things), but weirdly didn't have Rummy operating (I don't think the other effects were running either but at the very least no Rummy), and then at 3pm they had them come back to see the animated effects and Rummy, and then try a sampling of things. I wonder if they don't have the kitchen fully stocked with all the ingredients yet? Makes sense if it's not open until this Friday, don't want that octopus sitting in a fridge untouched for a week lmao.

Personally i think the next expansion in that area is the Jungle "Booze" Cruise. The LL lane access becomes your booze boats. That backside of water line will KILL it on those boats.

Says the user posting on a WDW fan site. *Those* pixie dusters!!!
Know the Difference!

Disney Parks Mega-Fan posting on a forum: GOOD!
Disney Parks Mega-Fan posting on a fan blog: BAD!

Remember, if you have a follower count higher than 4 digits, you're automatically a shill! There's no such thing as "people doing their jobs" or "a company making logical marketing decisions", it's just bad!

I wouldn't think that they've built an actual kitchen at that location and instead just have warming and cooling cabinets with periodic deliveries like the Taphouse.

Just an anecdote but my (non drinking obviously) teenage kids love Oga's and insist we go there every trip. And I would imagine they will love this too. Would be nice to have a few more non-alcoholic options though.

Also, more specifically, they all absolutely love to eat octopus so I can imagine dropping a bunch of money getting on the Kraken's Catch.

I wonder what kinda cocktail you could make with the "Backside of Water". A tropical ranch water type thing?

Whatever the drink Tikiland already has the mug ready to go:

That was my one gripe with the menu - like Oga's has 7 non-alcoholic drinks options, wish there were a few more here (maybe they will add more over time, as Oga's did)

I agree. Only two non alcoholic options seems like a misstep. I think at least 4 if not more would be more appropriate to give options. I wonder if you could at least get "regular" drinks like a soda or lemonade at Beak & Barrel.

I was a little surprised there wasn't some type of fruitier rum punch option, that could be served both with an alcohol and non-alcohol version. A play on pina colada and virgin pina colada. It might just be they want to start small, and increase the menu later. Or they just might not want to risk pouring a drink from the wrong mix and getting your alcohol/non alcohol versions mixed up.

So once again you make up a definition, make it a wholesale generalization, and do so with an air of holier than though attitude.
Trying to identify broad social and cultural trends is entirely legitimate and constructive. Your assumptions about me aren’t.
Many people love baseball, and love their home team. Just because a Red Sox fan has no interest in going to watch the Yankees, or the Tampa Bay Devil rays doesn’t make them any less a baseball fan.
Of course it makes them less of a “baseball fan” then someone who enjoys going to watch any game with any teams! On the other hand, it may make them more of a “Red Sox fan.” Words have meaning, and part of the game you’re playing in this thread (and a popular one in America right now) is obliterating the meaning of words and obscuring the distinction between them in order to caricature those with whom you disagree and legitimize an argument you can’t otherwise support.

I would also argue that approaching Disney as if it’s your “hometown team” worthy of support regardless of its actions and treating competitors as the opposing teams or even outright enemies is a key element of the definition of “Disney adult.” That’s not a value judgement… but this next bit is. Treating a corporation with which you have no ties other then your role as a consumer as your “team” is tremendously unproductive and very potentially destructive behavior. It impairs your ability to engage critically with that company and distorts your ability to understand the broader context in which that company operates and adjust your behavior accordingly.
Just because I can quote chapter and verse from the history behind the creation of WDW, from the stories in Project Future to the actual legal machinations that took place to allow the land purchases and the quasi-government framework that was set up to run the land and parks in Florida, doesn’t make me any better or worse a Disney fan than my sister, who loves the parks bc that’s where we went as kids, or my wife, who had never went before we met, but loves it now through the eyes of our kids.

Get over the idea that there is some right/wrong way to “Disney.” Get over yourself and the idea that your opinions matter to anyone outside of your self. Discussions about personal opinions have some value, what people like in rides, or food. It this idea that WDW shouldn’t do something that is clearly popular with a large segment of people because you don’t like it is just plane sad.
And here, of course, you’re doing exactly what you tried to accuse me of doing - trying to define a right way to “Disney.” You’re assuming that what you like is legitimate because it’s “popular.” You aren’t arguing for accepting all attitudes and behaviors regarding Disney - you’re just loudly, arrogantly, and often hysterically arguing that you should be the arbiter of right and wrong behaviors, backed up by the imagined “authority” of Disney itself. You’re trying to shut down commentary against your team.

It’s not a misstep, it’s the point. Disney is spending money to build themed bars that primarily sell alcohol because they really want guests to drink alcohol.
