DHS Disney Confirms Muppets Take Over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios

Oh don't get me wrong, in 2025 I don't consider Aerosmith Rock and Roller Coaster to be edgy or current (even if I like the band). Even at that time Aerosmith was already becoming a bit of a legacy act (but did have some current hits).

Some rides I think benefit from not being cutesy or character driven. Especially teenage men I feel need something to do, not everyone likes Star Wars or Marvel (Variety's article was all about this).

They could've had a new rock and roller coaster with currentish music hits by various artists or tie it all to a new artist.

Even if I don't like rap/hiphop it's hard to ignore how huge it is especially with a younger crowd.

I feel Eisner knew how to appeal to teens that aren't all in on the Disney properties and Iger has zero idea.

Obviously doesn't make sense to do with Cosmic Rewind existing but using Guardians of the Galaxy and a mix of music from the movies could have worked

I think something with variety vs one band is the best way to go - which is what the Muppet one will be with the Mayhem covering differing song s

Muppet Babies is a spin-off using baby versions of the Muppet characters, not a core Muppets project.

The fact that they had to create a completely retooled show with a new premise and redesigned characters in order to market the franchise to kids doesn't exactly disprove my point.

For God's sake, the original title of The Muppet Show was Sex and Violence.
Muppet Babies was actually made because of the popularity of the Muppets appearing as babies, same design, in Muppets Take Manhattan. The song was "Im Gonna Always Love You" and it featured the Muppets as Babies which spawned a merch line and then the animated show.

However there’s a part of me that can’t help but think that it’s crazy they went with Scooter for an animatronic and not Kermit, Fozzy, Gonzo, or any of the more “popular” Muppets.
Perhaps an implication that they have another idea for the "big four" (I'm including Piggy also) elsewhere in the park at some future date?

For something that actually contributes to the conversation, they could distribute bands for the final ride with each song. That would bump the count up a bit.
They should do an event and have Aerosmith ride the last train. They could ride off into the sunset (strip).

Even better yet -- distribute THE BAND to ride with each of the last 10 rides. Yes, put members of the band in each of the last ten trains and auction off the rides for some worthy charity.

Here's hoping that the Penguins animatronics aren't from MV3D because they will need them again...
I expect at least one of the penguins will get shocked while plugging in a piece of equipment... because... well, you know...

Yep. An interesting thing was when owned by Anheuser-Busch, full time employees got a voucher with their bi-weekly paycheck for two cases of any Anheuser-Busch product. The 80s were a fun time. 😂
We used to go to BGT and take the brewery tour. If we timed it right, we could watch the bottling line break down and scatter beer bottles all over the floor, some empty, some full.

You can’t developed, write and animate a show in less than two months. Muppet Babies was already well into production when The Muppets Take Manhattan was released to theaters.

This is such a bad choice. Disney forgets theres different demographics going to the park. An article just came out in variety about how Disney is losing in the young men demographic big time.

This decision further proves it. Replacing a teen/adult edgy ride with a preschool puppets theme. What a bad idea.
I agree 100%.

Aerosmith had a great 25+ year run, which is close to a miracle when you consider how many other acts would have needed to be replaced during that time for one reason or another.

While Muppets here might just be a consolation prize for closing 3D, I understand the decision to use IP and not a different specific artist/band. As long as the music isn’t terrible, this could lead to a nice update to an aging attraction.

And in theory they could add new songs into the rotation over time as is just crazy vers of popular songs just to keep it somewhat fresh

Much as I don't want this, and don't like the edge of a genuine rock band softened by The Muppets...
I do get it
There really is no other single band that this could be themed to that have the song and band recognition, have the edge that suits the ride, and will be around long enough.
Unless the ride was themed in a classic band sense - locked in time as a tribute.

It doesn't matter what you theme this attractions. It's still a coaster attractions, it's going to pull the typical rollercoaster demo whether it's Minnie's Morning Makeup Routine Coaster or Linkin Park/Billie Eilish/Eminem.

Whomever you put in there is going to impact the pull of the attraction marginally.
