Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I quit my job today. Technically I handed in my two weeks notice.

It’s time. I just don’t care anymore.

Every day since we sold the house (correction - HAD to sell the house), I keep saying, okay you’re alone, you can cry now.

Except nope - no tears. Nothing left to give, including effs.

We will survive. We will come out stronger. As always, I trust that God has our back. My mom hated the book of Job. Yeah, it’s there for a reason.

That is all. Carry on. So too shall we.

Sometimes when things aren’t quite right or toxic it is time to give them up. Wishing all the best for you.

Things always seem to have a way of working out, and I'm sure this is one of them.

Are you retiring, or looking for something else, if you don’t mind me asking…?

M, D, E and A already started off on another adventure yesterday morning…a road trip to Taos, New Mexico, to spend a week with Megan’s in-laws in an Airbnb…!!! :)

IMG_9985.jpegIMG_9986.jpeg

Emmy and Audrey are already, by far and away, sooooo much more well-travelled than we were at their age…
British Columbia, Washington State, California, WDW, cruises, Crete, New Mexico, and I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple…???!!!!! 🤔:hilarious:

Looking for something else. Maybe in a different field for a bit. The new home industry is dead. The whole market is about to collapse. There is a wholesale exodus of new homes sales agents. I’m about to be one of them.

I wish I had a Time Machine. We never would have moved up here. Mike never would have given up his salaried position.

We bet it all … and rolled snake eyes. Now it’s time to walk away from the table.

Thank you for your reply.
I’ve worked with many people in architecture over the years that ended up moving on to other careers.
Just a few examples…
One guy became an Austin police officer, another became a basketball coach at a local Christian high school, and one young lady had worked in the hospitality industry to help put herself through architecture school, got her degree and architectural license, then decided she liked the hospitality industry better.
The guy that was the police officer retired about 5 years ago, and, the last I heard, the other two were doing great in their second careers.

Before I retired, I used to listen to talk radio (local and national, on same station) at work all day.
In recent years, many employers would call in saying they were actually looking for more “mature” ;) employees.
Not going to go into the details of their comments, as I’m sure many of the reasons are obvious.
That could, potentially, be another advantage for you.

I pray that both of you find a clear path forward very soon.
The Partners at my old firm told me, many times, over the years that I did my best work under pressure (which I sometimes hated them for ;)). I have found that, not only in my work life, but, many times in my daily life, the same has been true for me.
I have no doubt that this setback will bring out the best in both of you. I pray that y’all are able to look back on it all very soon, and be proud of how y’all thrived beyond it.

I'm sorry it came to this point. How long did you work there?

Sometimes, exiting a bad situation is the best solution. If anyone can move on and come back out on top -- it's you. (Still, I'm sorry to hear that, despite all the good efforts by you and Mike, that the job/move, etc., didn't turn out as expected.)

I doubt anyone noticed the jeans, because they were dark. You still had on a suit jacket and tie, so you managed to sneak in the fancy restaurant! :joyfull: By the way, everyone looked nice all dressed up. Loved the dresses on all of gals!

With this company - 8 1/2 years.

On this particular site with this particular builder (you go where the brokerage has contracts) - only 13 months.

The Builder is not the problem (he’s insanely difficult, but he likes me, so we get along), the problems lie elsewhere.

The market is dead, with no sign of recovery anytime soon. Builders are going bankrupt, houses aren’t appraising and buyers are losing their life savings, the investors are gone, and the average family has been priced out of the market.

The numbers, according to Google:

A mere 310 new home sales were recorded across the entire GTA in April — the seventh consecutive month that saw sales hit historic lows, surpassing the infamous 1990 downturn. For context, a typical April would historically see around 2,750 new home sales, according to the latest data from the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD).

Compared to last year, sales were down 72% in April and sat 89% below the 10-year average. The majority of sales were made up of new single-family homes, which totalled 205 sales, sliding 66% year over year. New condos made up the remaining 105 sales, a bleak 80% drop from April 2024 and 94% below the 10-year average.

Yea, I’m sure even if they did notice, nobody really cared anyway.
Even on “formal” nights, many show up not dressed, exactly, formal…!!! ;)
On one of our earlier cruises, we got our nights mixed up and showed up in “cruise cloths”. We were going to leave, but were assured it was OK and happens all the time…!!! :)
I would have preferred the slacks, as I’m kinda’ “old school” that way (as is Carolyn) ;), but the look with the dark jeans turned out fine…!!!;)
I’ve been wearing a lot of jeans on more recent trips (including WDW), as I hate sunscreen.
Jeans, a rash guard and water shoes, at the pool, or on the beach, and I’m fine these days…!!! :)

Sunday, June 29th, and Audrey’s 4th birthday cruise cont….!!! :)

After our post-dinner deck 8 fun, we headed, a little early, to the Jubilee Theater at the front of the ship on deck 7, for a show Megan wanted to see.
Some pics below…

IMG_8478.jpegIMG_8480.jpegIMG_8484.jpegIMG_8485.jpeg

As y’all can see, the premise of this musical (literally, only about 4 lines of dialogue) was simple enough, but the various scenes were so disjointed, uninteresting and senseless, that, at one point, the shadows being cast on the stage right side wall by the actors were more entertaining to me…!!!!! 🤪 :hilarious:

IMG_8487.jpegIMG_8495.jpeg

As we were walkin’ out, Megan asked “Dad, what did you think…?”
I stopped and paused for a moment, then replied “I, honestly, have no darn clue what the hell I just watched.” :cyclops:
She laughed and said “Honestly, neither do I…!!!”…!!!!! :hilarious:
Several other passengers overheard and concurred…it was pretty funny…!!!!! 😅

On a side note…
The rest of the shows we saw on this cruise were really good, and definitely worth the time…!!! :)
