I have seen the Tokyo ride only on video and perhaps it reads differently in person, but comparing it to typical Fantasyland dark rides and especially Mermaid seems to be doing it a grave injustice. It features tons of appropriate AAs arranged in actual scenes ( a novelty at WDW), lots of clever gags, minimal reliance on screens, etc. most significantly, it seems to have the best use of an interactive element of any dark rides I’ve seen - it certainly makes Toy Story look like a pile of garbage. It’s also much, much more appropriate to the strengths of the IP then is a coaster in a box. And hey, if it really is lacking, Disney could always expand and plus a new version.
