MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

“Cars Land” likely invites an unfavorable comparison to the DCA counterpart. I get Disney would not want to adapt that naming convention for WDW for a multitude of reasons. But:

1) A new IP themed area that includes 2 attractions, shopping, and a possible dining experience fits within the expectation of a land

2) The technical name for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is SWGE - but no one calls it that, it’s functionally “Star Wars Land.” (Ditto “Pandora - The World of Avatar” is “Avatar” or “Avatar Land”)

Do they though? Maybe I am too in the bubble but always refer to them (and always here them referred to) as "Galaxy's Edge" or "Pandora"

Heck I hear "Batuu" more than "Star Wars Land"

Will have to see the final product - I think potential for Piston Peak to be beautiful and the flowing water, etc can be really nice ... BUT will definitely be different and won't be a "world" we know so won't have that same impact of stepping into something you saw (and potentially loved) on screen

The moment the lights come on each night in Cars Land at DCA is amazing, but part of the "feel" it gives you is you have known about and seen Flo's for years ... So that aspect won't happen in WDW - but could also provide some serene elements, will have to see

Yes, it could be very nice if they go all out - particularly with the water.
Part of what I love about the parks, and have loved since my first visit the years WDW opened id that people made that.
The design, artistry, construction...
So, yes I really hope Disney doesn't cut corners and we get an area on the level of the best they are capable of.

You can build new Disney castle parks without an ROA but I don’t think you can/ should completely eliminate it from where it’s been standing for decades as part of the parks identity. And to be clear I think all new parks could really benefit from bodies of water like the the ROA. Elements designed to look organic such as rivers, waterfalls, etc. They don’t have to be as massive of course. The fountain area at Epic is nice but the escapism isn’t quite the same. I get more Vegas or Outdoor Southern California Caruso mall vibes. I haven’t been to Epic but from what I’ve seen that’s what’s missing for me - the waterfalls, rivers, rock work, etc. With that said I think Berk may have some of that?

Disney might not be calling it cars land... its going to have 1 E ticket and 1 C ticket and take up ~3.7 acers.
Compare that to some of the "lands" at DHS and people are just going to refer it to cars land...

We use non-official terms for lands, rides, attractions, and areas all the time on these forms.

Might play out differently when actually open, but in my head been calling the *area* "Piston Peak" and then likely say "the Cars Ride" for the actual attraction,

Of course officially, this is not it's own land and is part of Frontierland... All I am trying to say is, I think it's quite common for people to use a non-official term... (There are no rides at WDW only attractions)

Disney for 70 years as primed it's fans to take a theme of an area and stick a word in front of "land" for naming an area.

Disney has spent the last 13ish years telling us that a new plot of land themed to a single IP is it's own distinct thing and it's own land. (Cars land, Pandora, TSL, SWGE, Avengers Campus, TSL (shanghi), Zootopia Land, World of Frozen, Avengers Campus (HKDL), Avengers Campus (DAW), and soon Frozen Kingdom (DAW).)

I think this is the first time in Disney history that 2 rides are themed to the same IP opening at the same time and is not called it a "land". However, by most definitions from the past 13 years... its a new land even if Disney doesn't want to call it that.

Anyway, if there is a big consensus, I will stop calling it cars land, even though it really seems silly to me not to call it that.

Yup. But even generously assuming that it will feel cohesive eventually, Disney is putting elements in MK that are similar to a land in another park. Comparisons to that land and thereby use of that name are inevitable. It's on Disney for not coming up with a more distinct idea.

Weird. All these features were open last Saturday when we were there.

Just my opinion, I think Disney wants the public to think, “Everything on TSI is always closed so it’s a good thing it’s getting bulldozed.” Again, just my opinion.

This subland/experience/park will be in the same IP "universe" as Carsland out in DCA and will at a minimum include 2 of the same characters (lightning and Mater).

They may have an SEO or copyright preferred name for something, but how average guests refer to it is something else. How many people ask Universal CMs how to get to “Harry Potter Land” vs their proper names?

You bring up a good point: Disney has conditioned the guests that a new land = approx 2 attractions and dining and shopping experiences reflective of that theme. There’s a large expectation that “Villajns Land” will have 2 attractions and dining and shopping consistent with the Villains theme. So, if the new Cars area has 2 attractions and dining and shopping consistent with that theme, it would feel atypical that it is not a land unto itself.

The only area I can think of that has at least 3 things (attractions, store, or food) that I can think of all based on a single IP that isn't a land is Alice in wonderland at DL.

EDIT: WDW Pirates I think will soon qualify as well with a ride, a bar/tavern, large store, and sometimes a QS. I will amend my previous statement to just include 2 attractions that share and IP.
