If you were playing Roller Coaster Tycoon and noticed that the "family coasters" you built brought in more guests (and sold more 'fastpasses') than high thrill coasters or kiddie coasters or indeed, more than any other type of ride.... what would you do?

Build two boat rides, a Spider-Pan and a Kuka flat ride? Then kick Frozen to the curb.

Did I flunk!?

Jokes! But DLR hasn’t added a family coaster in eons. Which I think is valid. Disneyland probably needs a new coaster more than DCA.

I honestly think Disneyland needs a decent coaster… like a Hagrid’s style coaster. A speeder bike Hagrid’s, somehow connected to Galaxy’s Edge…

Or my enchanted Star Wars room.

An Everest, Cosmic Rewind (but nice exterior) or Hagrids-like (which I think is the inspiration behind the Villains coaster) are all ride concepts that would suit the resort well. And I sort of disagree with Penguin because thrilling coasters clearly also move express passes and lightening lanes. Otherwise WDW and UOR wouldn’t be obsessed with them.

The starter coaster is already there in Toontown. Big Thunder is probably the next step up, then Matterhorn and Space Mountain.

Disneyland itself could really use something a bit more thrilling added to the roster.

I really hope GFT does become a Coco Attraction. It is actually more authentically Mexican.
It won't ever happen. The idea has been floated but it was determined the pavilion just couldn't handle that amount of foot traffic.

Norway handles Frozen and France handles Rat fine because they're tucked away enough that they can handle the crowds that a major E ticket draws. Mexico is not positioned in a way or laid out in a way that would be very favorable to that. It's just not got the room like Norway and France do.

Thunder has a ton of head choppers and helixes. Space I always found pretty tame as a kid. Its always been my least favourite mountain.
Everyone's perspective is different I guess because I always found Thunder to be tame. But I say that as someone who's first coaster was an Arrow with a double loop and a triple corkscrew at age 7. So a runaway minetrain is going to be tame in comparison.

Sometimes it’s not about just thrills, every Disneyland Resort coaster is tame by enthusiast standards, it’s akin to asking who the tallest dwarf is. If you are talking about quality and a complete experience however, I personally feel Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the best Disney Coaster, especially if you ride it at night.

No doubt its not just about thrills, and quality and complete experience does go a long way. But since the conversation (or at least I thought it was) was about ranking Disneyland coasters from starter to most thrilling within the Park I would put Thunder on the lower tier of "thrills" just above Go Coaster.

Most people find what they can't see to be much scarier than head choppers and helixes.
Oh, I thought we were talking about the coaster and the intensity of the coaster. Sure, if you are afraid of the dark, then sure, I guess Space would seem more intense than Big Thunder or Matterhorn. It always reminds me of the Scrambler they had at Knotts that was enclosed with a disco ball; some lateral forces, spinning lights, and no real drops or perceived height.

Considering how many people are freaked out by spiders, would that mean that TTBAB was the most intense thrill experience at Disney?

We re talking about the whole experience. On average due to the speed and darkness, Space Mountain will be scarier for the average 5 year old than Thunder.

Yes, that is why I put it in my list that way.

It's a very family friendly coaster, doesn't come across as scary like others can, to a young one.
