My personal opinion: These small offerings are great, BUT it's what I want see every day, not part of a special event. These will go away at the end of the summer, when there used to be places like Innoventions, or the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground, or even Citizens of Hollywood/Citizens of Main Street, that always provided places for guests to actively be doing something between bigger attractions.

That was my reaction - I think these are great and my kids would have loved it when they were younger. I still have a great memory of when Pluto was in the boneyard in AK and took my kids around in a hunt for bones

Would love to see a more permanent thing like this, perhaps in the old Wonders of Life pavilion

Ahh yes lets pay over $100 a day park ticket per person so my kid can play basic gym games... Disney has fallen so far.
There's no way you have kids. I'll never forget sitting in Canada, having a cold drink, while my stepdaughter colored a Duffy on a stick. We still got our money's worth on everything else, but letting kids have some unstructured moments only benefits everyone's sanity on a vacation that can be extremely overstimulating and exhausting.

My main issue with this entire "Cool Kids Summer Program" is that the offerings should always be available throughout the year. Not a fan of the placement of the Goofy stuff at Communicore, but that doesn't mean it doesn't belong at the parks. Just needs a new/proper permanent location that makes sense.

I get that, but the criticism seems to be coming from all angles on this which suggests they're damned if they do and damned if they don't, at least as far as forums like this are concerned.

If they didn't offer something like this, the criticism would be they weren't giving guests any extra incentive to visit despite the high prices and Universal opening a new park down the road. They do introduce a seasonal offering, and the criticism is it should be permanent or that it is too low quality to exist at all. They make this permanent and those who don't like the idea would complain even more about how far Disney has fallen.

We'll see how it goes, but if it is popular I'm sure they will make at least some of these additions more permanent. If it isn't, we'll never see it again.

Funny, this seems like pretty strong evidence that certain posters here will defend ANYTHING Disney does.

Oh, and that you don’t actually read posts and aren’t here for a meaningful conversation.
Ah yes

Person doesn't agree with you = defends ANYTHING Disney does = doesn't read = not meaningful conversation.

We ALL know meaningful conversation happens when someone has the exact same opinions as you.

Am I really having to defend a fun activity that I know the kids in my family would love to a grown man acting like this in a theme park discussion form?

Take yourself down a peg dude. We're all just strangers having fun and chatting about something we like or love to go to. It's a theme park. Primarily built for families. There is nothing deeper than that, I've been called every kind of shill under the sun before for just saying "Hey this thing is actually pretty cool imo". You're on a disney fan site, like it or not. A ton of people here tend to LIKE disney and many people felt kids were being left behind in a quest to please the thrill seekers.

Do we hate that Communicore Hall is large warehouse space? Yes. Do we think they better find ongoing uses for it? Also, yes. So they set up the equivalent of Romper Room with Goofy in air conditioned space during the summer. May not seem like much but kids get to play. Parents, grandparents, and other adults in the party get to rest for a bit in cool A/C. Sounds like a plan.

Ah, I see you’re pretending not to have written the post to which I responded. Straight up bad faith. Noted.

Yea I do actually because when I was a kid visiting WDW, this is the exact same kinda stuff that was on offer. And I loved it.

Why don’t you stop paying so much attention and giving so much energy to things that clearly don’t interest you and let the kids have something that they’re clearly going to enjoy?

You don’t have to be this over the top about every single thing, dude. It’s not that deep.
Both you and Disney are doing children a tremendous disservice by pretending that the fact that this is, “you know, for kids,” exempts it from criticism.

Disney parks specifically and the entire Disney brand in general were built on the idea that children deserved quality entertainment, not cheap low-effort slop like this.

Kids aren’t stupid. They may enjoy both a fast food restaurant playland and a Disney park, but few are under any illusion as to which is the better, more complete experience, even if they can’t articulate that idea.

The fact that Disney has allowed their family and entertainment offerings to deteriorate so severely that this garbage is offered as a “fix” is an indictment, not a defense. We’re playing the perpetual bad faith game in which every new development at Disney must be understood in complete isolation in the shallowest way possible, with no recognition of patterns or understanding of history.

If this is contextualized as a response to massively increased prices and/or the opening of Epic, it goes from pathetic to insulting.

It would be much more helpful to the board at large if Disney shill podcasters were required to disclose that so everyone would know where they stand (aka will say anything positive and dismiss any negativity to stay in Disney's good graces).
I’ve never seen any conclusive evidence that any of these people are shills. Dismissing everything positive with shill is as weak an argument as dismissing any complaints with “hater”

“Shill” is fair only when a poster attempts to delegitimize the act of thinking critically about Disney - a favored tactic from some, as evidenced by this very thread.

Most posters here are positive about aspects of Disney (even me!) and aren’t shills. Heck, Penguin isn’t a shill, and he’s pretty relentlessly positive! I mean, I think he’s WRONG a lot, but he’s almost always insightful and articulate while being wrong, so that’s great!

I'm not pretending anything. Everything I said was still my opinion and I never said that dissenting opinions "weren't meaningful conversation" if you bothered to read my original post. I stated I'm tired of the overly negativeness of some people and that I'm not going to care about what they're saying as its usually in bad faith. Even with that, I think they're free to have their opinions like I am mine. Their opinion is just tiring to me personally. Everything I wrote about was my opinion, I'm not trying to say their opinion isn't part of a conversation, simply not a part I like to partake in.

You can just call me a shill and be done with it if it makes you feel better.

I have of course stated my problems with every company including Disney openly but ya know. It's easier to write my opinion off as just being a shill.

I 100 percent agree with everything you said. I took the usage of the term shill to imply the age old assumption that anyone who has attended a Disney media event is being “bribed” into giving a positive review. A assumption that is wrong in a lot of cases.

You know what's funny?

It is adding garbage on top of existing garbage. Doesn't fix the root garbage.

Your post was a long attempt to delegitimize a wide range of opposing opinions, which you continue to do here. An opinion is not in bad faith because you disagree with it.

If you find the conversation here tiresome, feel free to leave. There are plenty of online spaces offering relentless Disney cheerleading.
