DHS Disney Confirms Muppets Take Over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios

Yep, and easy to be postponed or ditched.
If The Muppets were popular enough for Disney to utilize in retheming and anchoring The Hall of Presidents, then they would be popular enough to have Muppet Vision 3D remain.
Muppets are planned for RnR because the large popular attraction anchors the Muppets with easy synergy, not because the Muppets will bring much more attention to the already popular attraction.

I love The Muppets, but it is reality.

They did just create new content using the Muppets for the intro to the new WoC, so they do see some value in the IP ... I do think there is a difference between the popularity of the IP in general and the popularity of a 30 year old show that uses the IP

Yes, the Muppets is a fairly easy overlay to RnRC but there are other options they could have done that would have been just as easy/quick/etc (Powerline, etc)

Muppets are the current answer because:

1) It is a fungible IP that they own that they can slot into many things,

2) It clears the very low bar of “are they more popular than Aerosmith?” and

3) may get Disney out of having to renew a licensing deal.

Agree with 1 and 3 - not sure they are more popular in any material way that would translate to the ride being more popular (although much of this will depend on the execution not muppets vs aerosmith - and also carries risk of being worse or less attractive to an older audience who will never care about Mayhem).

I do think they probably feel good about changing to promote their own IP.

It took the 70th of Muppets to get that bit. They always do bits like this. They have never quite got it though. Frank Oz sums this up well.

Your other options are about the same, Goofy already stars in a main attraction, but filming some Muppet content for video is cheaper than animating and pulling off Powerline, which although sells great for Nostalgia, is even more niche in market research. It appeases the losing 3D announcement and was greenlit before the Disney Plus show was cancelled(See Tiana for similar situation in terms of synergy)

We are all saying the same thing, and why they are currently just as expendable as Areosmith that is there with some nostalgia in the gift shop after the guests 48 inches and taller can ride it. More towards The Muppet current market than the family broad audience they once were.

How much must they be actively working on before we stop this exhausting “I bet this is the project they cancel” nonsense? The horse is dead and they are indeed building a ton in WDW over the next several years.

Maybe we can return to the “okay, but it will all suck and Walt would have…”

At least that’s a discussion.
Whatever gets built will suck. Walt would have never approved of all this crap.

Better? ;)

I don't like what would the dead guy do game, what I do know is that the Disney of recent had standards that would not have most things going acceptable.

While not as bad as DCA, DHS has an issue of after in spending billions it is that we have Star Wars and more Toy Story in the park. Galaxy's Edge is giving this park..well..its edge. If not for that it would be very similar to DCA where so much is spent but without the balance and vision it moves further from the top visited park than closer.

It is a trend in management because the rush to fix things after years of nothing was not well crafted and the cut short. Not only DCA and aspects of DHS, but you see this obviously with EPCOT's recent big investments but still having its problems.

And to be fair, a theme park problem of the recent decade and a half, as Uni had a period of this where rapid new did not serve them well because each replacement post Earthquake becoming Disaster was rough. Rip Ride Rockit, Fallon, Fast Supercharged and to some extent bourne are all meh to floppy. It had Potter doing great and live entertainment doing great things inbetween and now we have an entirely new large theme park that has been worked on.

They just can't wait to all be right. And when they are wrong, then they will move the goalpost.

It’s a discussion. I could see this getting cancelled. And I can see it happening.
Sure. There’s always a non-zero chance of

Yes, but they’ve wanted to drop Aerosmith for awhile, this is cheap, and sorta placates their fans. It also is something “new” for 2026 when they otherwise have basically nothing.

My only real fear of cancellation is Villain Land. Everything else comes too soon.
We get a new CEO!

I think it's coming and the goalposts will continue to move for the naysayers around here.
