They definitely do better but still not perfect. Example. In super Nintendo world in Hollywood you can see what I think is the nbc building.
I’m not sure anything realistic could’ve been done with that issue, however it is clear to me that WB has been much stricter than Nintendo has been. The thing that bugs me about Hollywood is the hideous and immersion breaking rectangles. It just looks so cheap.

I’m not saying nothing could’ve been done, but there very well could be a legitimate reason they didn’t just build the wall higher.
Fair enough. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt in this case cause Super Nintendo world is really good but Hollywood seems like they got the cheap version. Also yes that wall is really ugly.

I think you have to give USH some slack since they have to work around what they can. Build on a hillside, limited space available on lower lot, etc.

However, I don't give slack for Epic since, as mentioned above, they had an empty slate and tons of land to make things work correctly. Certainly seems like HTTYD & DU were cut in favor of Potter/Nintendo (understandably). I hate how Berk's immersiveness will be ruined by the plainly visible Untrainable building with no significant attempt at hiding beyond a flat mural. (I don't mind Starfall in the distance, I think it looks cool).

By the way, about 10% of the current WDI Florida team previously worked on Epic Universe at Universal Creative, including key show set designers, senior show producers, special effects designers, engineers, etc.
I hope that 10% will be heavily involved in the upcoming attractions.

Is it that low? The number of WDI and Calarts Alum license plate frames at Creative would've told me otherwise.

Once again, I think we misunderstand each other. I’m talking about the WDI Florida team, not Universal Creative. That said, it’s about the same percentage at Universal Creative that are former WDI. It used to be higher but many Universal Creative employees that were former WDI have either gone back to WDI or are no longer working at either company.

You can't vision a land based off Game&Watch and Duck Hunt because your brain isn't big enough. Give me enough Monster Energy, Duck Hunt zappers, and sharpies and I'll have a Duck Hunt land that'd make DisneySea cry in shame for being the worst thing ever compared to it.

I think Kirby could work as a land/mini-land attached to mainline SNW. But I'm biased because I love the pink puff, so other voices that don't have a bias should comment here.

Animal Crossing is in the same vein as Kirby, maybe the attraction can be a train ride across a "town"? Museum walk through attraction? I don't know. This has stumped me in my brainstorming sessions.

I think TLOZ has an issue of "what type of TLOZ do you focus on?", but once that's overcome, I can see a land for it working out.

I do think Wario deserves a ride though. Imagine a Wario Log Flume or something. I don't know.

Anyway, tomorrow is my EU day!!!
I’d rather not. Those IPs are dreadful.
They don’t necessarily translate.

It’s like saying inside out deserves its own land based off of its 1.6B gross. It doesn’t and neither do most Nintendo iPS.

Universal does this a lot from what I’ve observed. They build amazing stuff but never go all the way. It feels like there’s always a sight line issue or something.
Sometimes I wonder if this isn’t intentional, Disney has painted themselves into a corner and really limited what they can build as a result of their immersion standards, they could never do an exposed ride like Velocicoaster without insane backlash, I think Universal simply chose a level of immersion that places them solidly in the theme park category while also freeing them up to build some amazing amusement park rides without the confines of everything being completely hidden.

Which version of Hiccup is represented? Young or teen version? Big difference.

The “Dragon series” has not aged well. With that said, this is proof that a beautifully themed area doesn’t need the IP connection at all to succeed. The area is good in spite of the “ dragon” series not because of it.

It's the older Hiccup.

I think the series has aged beautifully :)

Also Mead Hall has the best theme park food ever.

Yikes - these are some glaring issues for whats been sold as the next level of theme park design.

Pretty amazing that a theme park built in 1955 and is now surrounded by a modern city, has better sightlines and immersion, than a newly built 2025 theme park.
Well, DL has had 70 years to adapt. In the beginning there were a lot more chain link fences and dirt.
